"Over the first month of complex league play, Rodriguez has been the undisputed top player. Over his first 20 games, Rodriguez is hitting .355/.494/.839 with eight home runs and more walks than strikeouts.

The underlying data backs this production, as Rodriguez shows impressive barrel control and power. His contact rate of 73% is about average and is balanced by a low chase rate of 17%. His max exit velocity is 110 mph with an average launch angle of 16 degrees.

With an outlier combination of power and good angles at contact, Rodriguez is a barrel machine."

Some things I've heard/read about this kid...and this is probably not news to most of you- 1.) He's unlikely to stick at catcher. Not sure if it's a arm thing, a blocking thing, a pitch-frame thing or some combination...I've just heard him sticking there is unlikely. 2.) If he were in this year's MLB Draft he'd be a first rounder and maybe a top 10 pick. We've got ourselves a hitter here i think.

A few weeks ago on Wednesdays with Walton and Reis I believe they said that multiple scouts told them that had Rainel Rodriguez gone through the draft he would have been a consensus top 10 pick. Something to that effect.
