Whatcha' think? Some dubious performances by Liberatore, Fedde and Pallante recently. Maybe Mikolas can be the stopper. I gotta see it to beieve it. McGreevy anyone? The division is slip sliding away.

We don’t agree often, but I’ve been saying the same thing. The offense is good enough to win. The pitching is not, despite a hot streak where a few guys were pitching over their heads.

The starting pitching could crate at any moment, it's started to crack in last week.

The rotation figures to look majorly different in 2026.
Libby has been impressive.
We’ll see some younger guys getting their chances as the season progresses and into ST.

The division was never there. That's why the hue and cry to "sell" has been there for all but the "squirrel" alarmists. You, my son, are a "squirrel" alarmist reacting to anything that looks good in the moment.

And the SP was always suspect. Only the fools who think baseball is a marathon, not a race, thought otherwise.

I try to watch other MLB games whenever I can. When I compare the Cards pitchers to those of the best teams, based on velocity, late break, command and deception, our guys don’t fair very well, except for Helsley. Which makes me think that our recent success is an unsustainable blip, and that our pitchers will likely revert to the mean.

I remarked at that time that the Cardinals had been surviving this with:
3rd lowest walk rate
3rd lowest HR rate
4th highest groundball rate
3rd lowest HR/FB rate

But it’s playing with fire not being able to miss bats.

Based on assumptions that 90 wins would easily take the division, I thought the Cards could compete for the NLC with this staff--providing of, course, the kids hit. I think the hitting's on the right track.

But the Cubs look like a team of destiny. That, or they're in for a major fall.

Regardless, whether they're trying to win and/or give the kids "runway" it makes NO F'N SENSE for McG not to be starting in MLB.

”Runway”. Moespeak. Glad we’re almost done with that. Vomit inducing.

Fedde: 6IP, 2 ER.

Dubious?

You also said the Cards were in trouble because of one bad start by Gray in ST.

You say a lot…

Starting pitching across baseball is fairly subject one you clear each teams 1-2.

We have five guys who can dazzle you with brilliance or baffle you with bull [shirt].

They can give you seven or four.

Roby goes tonight. Hoping for another brilliant outing. He's been outstanding of late. Has his pathway been accelerated to the majors?

So trade Fedde, Mikolas, Matz, and Burleson. They are the 4 lowest Cardinals in swinging strikes %.

You can cool it on Roby after last night hotshot

Are you brain dead? He gave up 1 run in 6 and 2/3 innings. 8 strikeouts. 1 walk, 4 hits. Be nice if more St Louis Cardinals' starting pitchers had a line like that, consistently. I liked the way Roby didn't panic after giving up a lead off HR. You probably don't get it why that's essential for successful pitchers.
