Ranger series

The Cards open a 3 game set with Texas tonight in Arlington. The Rangers are coming off a frustrating series loss to Toronto in which they lost 2-1, won 2-0, and lost 2-0. Their starters in those 3 games were DeGrom, Eovaldi, and Mahle. DeGrom took the loss in Monday's game and he will certainly pitch either Saturday or Sunday vs St. Louis. Eovaldi was removed from Tuesday's game after 2 IP for "precautionary reasons" with triceps fatigue so the Cards may miss him. Texas other starters this weekend will likely be Patrick Corbin and Jack Leiter. The Cards will counter with Liberatore, Gray, and Fedde.

The Rangers' have lost their last 3 series - at the Yankees and White Sox, and vs the Blue Jays. They could only get 1 hit vs a Toronto bullpen start on Wednesday. Their offense has been shut out 7 times this season, 4th most in MLB. Some of their big hitters are struggling mightily this year - Adolis Garcia is batting .208/.256/.371/.627, Marcus Semien .173/.260/.224/.284, Jake Burger .208/.243/.396/.639. DH Joc Pederson has a broken knuckle and will be out until July. Best player Corey Seager just came back from hamstring injury on Wednesday so the Cards will have to deal with him.

Hopefully Libby can get us off to a great start tonight. Rangers are one of the worst teams in baseball vs LHP.

K% of 27.5% and hitting .207/.266/.324 vs LHP.

K% is the 3rd highest and OPS is the 2nd worst behind Baltimore.

They aren’t good against RHP though either with the T-2nd worst OPS vs RHP.

If your team is terrible against lefthanders and not too good vs RHP either , guess what ? You are in big trouble !

Rangers hitters in a big slump.

Last 7 days:
13 Runs
.167 .234 .244 .478

BUT

Their pitching has been OUTSTANDING!

Last 7 days:
2.45 ERA

KEY is to TAKE WALKS as they've walked 22 hitters in 44 IP!

Take those walks!

Ha, yet the Rangers are only 2 games under .500 I think.
Guess it could work if you had a dream team starting rotation to counter with.

Sounds like runs may be hard to come by for both teams.
Rangers are home....but....Cards are by far the hotter team!
Their recent success in one-run games hopefully continues and they come away with another series win??

The starters we have going are our best. Best opportunity for a 2/3 win. And the order of the games in which they pitch is the future top three.

If not mistaken Kibby is 0-3 on the road and two no decisions in five starts.
