Playoffs aren't guaranteed in the future. We are in great position, playing well, and fun to watch

Keep the vets
Make a trade for a starter at the deadline. Maybe some bench help
Need to do something with Gorman

I’d prefer this idea - bringing in a couple of pieces to put them over the top to what a lot of people seem to be advocating for and what I’m afraid the front office will do - and that’s stand pat. They need to stick to the plan and move some vets or they need to go all in for 2025

It's too bad that the #1 offense in MLB is in our division.

Gorman should be able to fetch a bullpen piece. I don't have access to baseball trade values now that it is a pay site. You also never know how clubs view a player and if they can fix him. The A's have a 2B that is about to become a free agent. Would they take Gorman for their young reliever Justin Sterner? The Rockies are a mess. Would they trade us Jake Bird for Gorman? Those are both relief pitchers with several years of control who should be able to be 7-8th inning guys.

I don't think MO is going to do a lot at the deadline. I don't think he is going to add a SP or a bat. A RP keeps the team chemistry in place. Trading Gorman gives him a change of scenery. He is not adding much to the team at this point. One of those relievers doesn't put the team over the top. But it sure adds a lot of certainty at the end of games and takes stress off of the other relievers.

Why do you feel behaving like a naive (bleep) is a viable conduit for righteous indignation?

True.

But last 15 games Cubs have faced Miami, Cincy, White Sox and Colorado.

That's a run of gourmet meals.

I believe the A's signed Urias for two reasons (it's one year contract) 1- to hold down 2B for this year in hopes that Max Muncy (22 years old) would be ready to take over in mid year and 2- hoping Urias would hit like he did in 2021 and 2022 so they could flip him at the trade deadline. I don't think they ever had any real intention to keep him beyond the trade deadline.

Jake Sterner isn't that young, he's 28 but still a rookie.

I don't know what all Baseball Trade Values put into their algorithms to assign each player a value, but their valuations say Gorman still has some worth. For instance, his value is almost identical to Phillies #7 prospect Mick Abel, a right-handed starting pitcher. Gorman's value is almost identical to Athletics #2 prospect Colby Thomas. Thomas is a power-hitting corner outfielder at AAA. Nolan Gorman's value is almost identical to Yankees #2 prospect Spencer Jones. Jones is a 22-year-old center fielder with as much power as Gorman, and just as many holes in his swing. These are just examples, there are others. The point is, Nolan Gorman still (at this point) has value, and it is probably more than just a relief pitcher.

If a respectable return presents itself, I’d still move Helsley regardless of the standings.

Bloom and Cerfolio are quietly doing their thing . Mo is not going to trade anyone that Bloom wishes to keep for his future.

STL can and should continue the "reset" - and "go for it".
Trade N/A again, trade Mikolas, or trade Matz if the deal makes sense, throw in other pieces - such as King, Leahy, Fermin, Baker, Prieto, etc., if needed to create packages.
They are not part of the future, and the team would not miss them this year.
Use them to restock prospect depth.
Maybe add another quality 8th inning arm.
Then assess and recalibrate as needed in the offseason.
Easy.
Obvious.
Correct.

The CORRECT BASBEBALL DECISION is to extend Helsley for another 4 years sometime in the next 30 days.
