4 hits, 7 Ks, 1 walk. Memphis could be calling soon for the 23 year-old..

Impressive. Needs to go longer in games, but I urge patience with his injury history.

The real story is Baez. Just promoted to Springfield, he goes 2 for 3 with 2 stolen bases so far. He's a guy to keep an eye on at age 21.

Roby's the real story. The second amazing start in a row. Five shutout innings. Roby strikes out the first batter he faced in the 6th. After a mound visit, he's replaced. Hope he's OK. Another tremendous pitching performance by Roby. Another exciting young pitcher coming along for the Cardinals.

I had mostly given up on Baez, huge surprise this year! Hope he finds some success at AA!

I'm with you on Baez. Nice to see the youngster progress like this.

No, Baez is the real story tonight. He's younger and not saddled with injury concerns...he's like a right-handed Thomas Saggese!

Shady deserves most of what he gets, but this was a reasonable thread about something other than Burleson for once and you guys still have to nitpick and argue.

He brought it on himself JMo. He has a remarkable track record of riding a subject to death and is the leading edit guy in the history of CT.

No one nitpicked.

After acknowledging Roby's impressive performance, I pointed out that Baez has had two hits and two stolen bases in his Springfield debut. To me, that was more impressive than a 23 year-old going 5 innings in AA.

A couple of years back, Ole ShadyMaple had a post where he claimed something similar. I can't remember the player, but we've had fun with this ever since. It's satire.

No. Someone will remember the exact details...but it was something like Libby could be a left-handed Carlton. That wasn't it, but when I remember I'll let you know.
