Contreras is a true MOTB. He plays very good defense at 1B. His track record speaks for itself offensively and is probably actually softer due to the rigors of him previously being a catcher. He is also one of the only real veteran leaders on this roster.

Burleson is a man w/o a defensive position that is a good LHB to have as a part time DH, corner OF, and 1B. He is also a good PH to have off the bench.

True but I think Contreras defense is better and in the long run he has been more consistent hitting. Just my opinion.

No, he has not not been a more consistent hitter. That's my point, platoon them and get the most from both. Sounds like many have forgotten Burleson hit 20 HRs last year with 78 RBI, which would match any of Contreras years in his career. Plus, he is several years younger and should improve.

Career wise, Burleson has been the better hitter for average and OBP. His season last year was as good as any Contreras has had his career and remember Contreras played in a hitter's park in Chicago. As shown last night and many other games this year Contreras is not producing. A platoon could be used in my opinion.

Maybe WC could use a day off, but a straight platoon? No way.

Also, I really like WC at 1B as a leader of the infield.

I would consider Donavon the leader with a close second to Winn. Just because Contreras is a vocal figure doesn't mean he is a leader. This team is revolving to the younger players which in my opinion has made the vast improvement in their play and record. Burleson is the future at 1st base, not Contreras. Again, just my opinion.
