Just throwing this out there. I like Nootbaar and I know he's been streaky in the past, but he's gotta be more consistent. I'd take him being a bit more mediocre overall if it meant he wouldn't go through these long stretches of sucking.

All some people need with Nootbaar is an expectation adjustment. Some have allowed the Cardinal media machine to convince them that Noot is a better player than he is and a foundational piece of the club moving forward. He is not. He is a good ball player to have as a complimentary piece when surrounded by other plus players. He is not a star. He will hit around.250/.350/.400/.750 and play a solid corner OF.

I noticed the other day his OBP has dropped over 30 points the last 10 days or so. So has Winn's for that matter. Need them guys to get back on track for this offense to start running full speed again.

Looking for the walk. Makes him less aggressive. Swing on two strikes too often. Bad habit to get into.

He will get hot again and get his OPS back up to around .800. Just about all of the cardinals hitters except for Donovan and Herrera have been streaky this season

People just to say his cold months were due to injury and if he could only stay healthy he could OPS > .800-.850.

Maybe swap him and Scott for a few days? I'd like to see Scott at Leadoff. Get him a few more at bats with his speed

Only 7 walks this month in 101 PA's,

In April he took 20 walks!

I said in my thread:

As Noot goes, so goes this offense.

He needs to get that OB% back up, .267 OB% in May is no good.

He's a 4th outfielder.

On a championship caliber team, yes. On an average team, he is a starting corner OFer.

That is the nature of baseball. For a few weeks , a guy hits everything and gets ton of hits... then they get off a tad and can't hit ..
Just like guys who end up with .250 batting averages .. that's 1 for 4 but they won't get 1 hit for most of their games
2 for4 , 2 for 4 , then two games 0-4 , 0-4 etc Even the Judge types go on streaks .
Heck in golf same way ... pro bowlers do it as well .

In today's game everyone looks for 250 hitters but to me if hit 240 need Harmon Killebrew power. Noot is a platoon somehow or 4th OFer and that is the answer. I would rather Scott lead off and get someone else. Maybe JJ can move to LF but don't know. Park adjusted avgs show much to expect in trades etc. Detroit, STL. NYM, Tampa, Miami etc are not hitters parks but if ca. actually spray ball around can hit or better have good power. Herrera and Donnie do decent enough. You build a team to the stadium and hope for best.

He had something like a career .778 ops coming into the season. He’s had two seasons in the mid to high 780s. Hes in his baseball prime. Why is it so unimaginable that with a healthy season he could have an .800 OPS?

So, you’d rather him score fewer runs, get on base less, get fewer hits and hit fewer homeruns over the course of a season, in exchange for more consistency?
