If it holds true I’m wondering what team results would result to give Oli this recognition. Improved win % over last year? Makes playoffs? Deep playoff run?
What has to happen to credit Oli with success?

Weather you like him or not. The team is winning now. May not all season but the team is playing well. If Walker and Gorman would start hitting. Team could score lots of runs
Let's just enjoy the success now

By surrounding him w/two more quality coaches this season (Brown/Jay) it's limited, but not totally removed Oli's weaknesses.
Glad to see the team playing well and props to Oli & more to his staff, still have ZERO interest in seeing Oli in the dugout in 2026.

He'll still be depised if he wins its or places in the top three. It's what delusional expectations do.

All voting is done before the postseason. Obviously the postseaon has series MVP's but everything else is regular season only.

Outside of maybe 2022, the franchise hasn't surrounded him with special players and a loaded roster. But somehow, he managed to have 2 winning seasons out of the last 3. And 3 out of 4 total.
Commendable job because he's balancing having to win, while also finding playing time for everyone that the front office wants a long look at.
Our last two managers were winners too, but both got fired. It will be interesting to see if the new regime wants a clean slate in 2026, but it feels like everyone is buying in to this group of coaches within the organization.
If they have a winning season and make the playoffs, it would be a shame to fire that. But the temptation of Yadi and/or Pujols being out there has got to be enticing to ownership. They would market the sh** out of that.

Basically, from the moment he took out Quintana at pitch 75 against the Phils until about a month ago, I found very little favorable decisions from Oli that changed my opinion on him as anything but negative. Suddenly, as of a month or so ago, he's a different manager. Keeps starting pitchers in when they're cruising, isn't burning through as many BP arms as he can every night, and is consistently playing most starters without idiotic "maintenance" days all the time.
As long as he keeps doing that, I'd vote for him as manager of the year. It's about results.

My disdain for Marmol is well known. I'd love to be wrong.

Won't save his job. Matheny took us to the world series. Never had a losing season. Got fired.
2023 attendance 40,000 per game
2024 attendance 35,000 per game
2025 attendance 29,000 per game
Matheny's final full season 42,000 per game - and he got fired. Not good enough.
