Sure looks that way. A couple of upgrades at coach, Jay, Brown and Dusty Blake coming on, coupled with players willing to be coached and wow, what a surprise.

Also, a shout out to the umpire tonight. He was terrible. Marmol gets objected and that umpire looked irate arguing with Marmol. Then he umped a near perfect game after that. I will give him credit for improving and not holding a grudge.

FO had better not be duped by his contract-year performance and extract every pitch they can get and let him walk this offseason.

And that at bat of Herrera's was terrible. According to GameDay, ump called a ball on the same pitch earlier in the count when it was an inch closer to the K zone. MLB has to integrate ABS next season people are beyond sick of these primadonna umps.

As one of his biggest detractors, I must admit that he's making me eat my words, up to this point. If it continues then I would be up for a reunion, I guess. He's pitching like a number 1-2 right now. But, the season is long and fraught with peril. LOL

No. He’s gone. Had he had this value we would have traded last offseason. Him and Matz will make for a fine return. As good as a contract year pitcher can bring.

Mikolas is about a career .500 pitcher. As a Cardinal, he had a great 1st season, but the rest of his years in St. Louis have been up and down. When his control is on, he can be very effective - and so far this year, in 10 starts, he has pitched very well - except for being clobbered by the Sawx. In the starts since that blow out in Boston, he has not allowed more than 3 runs in any start. He allowed 0 runs in three starts at Atlanta, Cincinnati, and Kansas City.

He typically only pitches 5 or 6, but if his recent performance continues - that will do. He often gets to 80 pitches or more by the 5th or 6th. When he is off, it usually shows up early in his start. Hopefully he can continue to give the team strong starts, but IMO he should not be re-signed after this year.

He’s had a fortunate run here of late but don’t let that fool you into believing he’s pitching like a 1 or 2.

He has a .180 BABIP against in May with a 4.64 FIP / 4.90 xFIP. Thats way more in line with his 4.66 ERA in the first month than his 2.01 ERA in May.

Nice to see him getting good results. I’d view it as unsustainable.

Moe’s last act, a 3 year contract with Lizard Puke at $20 mil per. Book it, Danno. He will tell us it’s like making a trade for a #1 SP. Cranny will buy it and defend it.

And it's no coincidence that the TWO WORST starters in MLB the last two seasons, Mikolas and P. Corbin (3.59 ERA) are in their walk seasons and pitching incredibly well vs those past two seasons.

Mikolas 2023-2024
5.04 ERA

Corbin 2023-2024 (and he's sucked since 2020!)
5.41 ERA

Any fool team that falls for this deserves what they get if they give either more than a couple million on a one year deal.

Mikolas' effectiveness is one of biggest surprises of the year. Keep going Miles. Get to the playoffs.

A team will give him a decent contract. It won't be the Cardinals.
