Would the Cardinals really help the Cubs whom they are trying to catch in the division? Unless they are frustrated with Arenado's offense to the point of moving Donovan to 3B. Opening up 2B for some young possibilities.

The Cardinals are historically reluctant to trade star players within their own division. On the other hand, it’s unclear if Arenado wants to go to the Cubs.

I have a good one to excite the Cub fans . If I was a writer , I would put out a story to get their attention . Titled :
Cards willing to trade Arenado to Cubs Then when I have them sucked in to read the details , I begin by stating ..
Cards FO willing to move Nolan Arenado to the Chicago Cubs for just one player ... Pete Crowe-Armstrong That should burst their balloon !

"The change we see for Nolan would be very good for him,” O’Dowd said". Wonder how Arenado would feel about that.

I see no path to that happening.
But whatever floats your lucky charms!

Would anything be more exciting than to see the Cardinals leading by 1 run .. bottom of 9th at Wrigley ..bases loaded 2 outs and Arenado strolls to the plate ..... One run ties the game, and 2 run single is walk-off win by Nado .
With crowd standing roaring for Nado to win it, Nado soars the ball high into the air as crowd screams .. No ,not a grand slam but a high pop up to Victor Scott in CF. Game over Cards win ! Would be priceless

As bad as I want to get rid of NA, that would be a tough one. However I would consider it for the right return and to dump his salary if possible.
Based on what we see I don’t think he improves the Cubs that much even though he is an improvement over what they have.
But I seriously doubt it happens and I can’t blame the Cards for passing on this one.

I do not see this happening. The only way I see the Cards doing an in season trade with the Cubs would be if the Cards were in the Pirates position right now. So far out of it there is no real reason to care. You don't trade a high profile player that will insert in the teams starting order to a team you are chasing for the title. Regardless of whether the value return is worth it. If that player goes on to propel that team to just beat out your team for the title and the playoffs then the PR nightmare would be stunning. Off season I can see it happening for the right return. Not when they are within 3 games of each other for the division lead.

No way! How would we ever replace his .695 OPS? And his bloated salary? And his incredible leadership?
Nice try Cubbies. Arenado is a Cardinal for life!

NO, NO, NOOOOOOO!!!! If Nado is getting traded we owe it to him to get him to the Dodgers where he has shown top interest in preference (I think). The Cubs can have Muncy from LA and cash.
Dodgers get Nado and Helsley
Cubs get Muncy and cash
Cards get one of those Dodgers starters on the 60 day IL Stone. Ryan, Sheeheen and a bullpen prospect.

Saw no where in the article that said the Cubs were interested in Arenado.

Anyone who reads (and especially shares) sports-related links from MSN isn’t serious.

Cubs are currently on pace for 972 runs, which would be the 4th most in a season by a team since 1960.
So unless they're using illegal bats and get caught, I highly doubt they'd even want Areando on their field.
