3 out of 4 and dropping 2 bullpen losses to the same team in 3 games, BAD

Didn't watch much as I was running errands but sure sounded miserable in the car. Really hope the last 3 weeks weren't a mirage and they're gonna need to show up against the DBacks.
But how do you lose facing 2 bullpen starts from the same team in 3 days? Ugh ... Miserable.
I know they had a few hits today but Gorman, Walker, and Nado while slumping should never be on the field at the same time. I guess Burly's popping singles so can't really complain about him.
If the snakes strangle the Cards like the Tigers did, not good. lol

Only the 2nd series loss to a winning team this season. And it was against the team with the best record in baseball.
It happens.

I believe the same thing I believed 3 months ago:
-If enough of the young guns hit, this team can win 90 and the NLC. Of course, that's before I realized the Cubs had the best offense on the planet so hopefully they fall back to earth.
-if this team falls into the same patterns as the last 2 years, they could STILL lose 100 games. They collapsed in May the last 2 seasons, let's hope this year doesn't make the trifecta
Even Cher can't save us if there's a 23-24esque collapse on the horizon.

They didn’t collapse in May either year. They went 1 game over .500 in May last year (13-12) and 2 games over .500 in May in 2023 (15-13). And they didn’t collapse after May in 2024 either, they just stayed pretty neutral going 5 games over .500 from June 1st onwards.
They did have a rough patch to begin May in 2024, but they quickly canceled that out with an equally great patch to end the month.

That’s the way I see when two hot teams play one will lose the series had the cardinals won it doesn’t mean the tigers suck and they are going to go to spiral and the fact that the tigers won doesn’t mean the cards suck and are going to spiral

Well said! Cardd clobbered in game 1.. 2nd game nail biter 2-1
And 3rd game sound victory by Tigers.
Cards scored more runs 16 vs Tigers 14
Plus good defense.
Two good teams

And the fact that they got to Skubal and several other top of the rotation starters gives me optimism the offense isn’t just. A mirage it is pretty good

Just wait until the cubs go get the pitching they need..or whatever they may need at the deadline...the cards will not..

I guess it was later than May last season. The specific dates aren't really the important part. Because in both 23 and 24, the team went from an above .500 record and looking like a contender for at least a WC spot, to essentially being completely out of it after a losing streak.
After dropping 3 out of 4, if they can't make a good showing against the Snakes, it'll be impossible for at least the fans not to remember what happened the past 2 seasons and for good reason, fear it's happening all over again.

I look at it this way. We had won six straight series and split a four gamer. We were due. Plus best record in baseball.
The entire series was settled in game two.

They were never really looking great last year. They were a season high 6 games over .500 on July 8th. They finished 4 games over .500. They never wilted/cratered/collapsed after May, opponents just pulled away from them and they remained mediocre. Their only “collapse” was in early May when they lost 9 of 10 games and went from 14-15 to 15-24. But, like a good mediocre (not bad, but mediocre) team does, they immediately followed that up with winning 12 of 15 games and were 27-28 by the end of May.
They were bad in 2023, they were mediocre last year. This year, they look good. They’ve handled good teams this year as opposed to last year when they wilted to them. I would say we’re on the upswing and close to a legit contender.
