Less than a 1/3 of the AB’s as our other starters. If he can stick around 1.000 OPS for the season and stays in the middle of lineup this could be Goldschmidt(MVP) type bat who actually seems to thrive under pressure.
An actual top of league offensive weapon evolved when everyone was laser focused on Gorman and Walker

We have 114 games left. If Herrera plays 100 of those games and averages 4 ABs a game and slashes .300/.370/.500/.870 in 400 abs. He'd end the season with a slash of .315/.388/.537/.925.
That'd be incredible! It is absurdly difficult to project a +1.000 OPS.

I like it. A gifted hitter born to DH! The next Edgar Martinez or, dare I say, Big Papi?

He’s a slugger who can go opposite field.

The kid looks to damage w/every swing!
Should DH 90+% of the games.
Rarely behind the plate where he could get hurt, worn down by the St. Louis heat and honestly he's not good.
Perfect DH if Oli would just write his name in ink, only out of the lineup when he needs a day off.

Herrera is the obvious cleanup hitter for this team. It would sure be nice to have his offense at catcher. But considering his supposed limitations, defensively, there. It is prudent to find another position for him or DH. Maybe some catching like this season. The organization does have some other fine catchers, as well.

Correct. Tho I wish they could work with him on another position, like LF, between games. Maybe play him an inning or two out there In blowout games.

Damage yes, but what really impressed me was with RISP, two strikes, and the infield in, he simply looked to poke a grounder through the right side and plate the run. .... and he did it. He is a smart situational hitter. Homers have their place, but give me a smart kid who looks to plate the run any way he can! The whole team has this personna right now. Keep the train moving. Hit the sac fly. Do whatever is needed. Homers happen, and that's great, but getting that run in..... that leads to scoring 5 or 6 runs most every game. Not coming up empty handed...

Personally I'm disappointed in him for dropping below 1.300

He has many RBIs as Juan Soto.

Hes a hitter that found the launch angle and it worked. One of the early scouting reports on him that said he was a good hitter and could unlock power if he improved from a high ground ball rate well he figured out how to do it and has become a masher if only Walker could take notes

By "damage" I wasn't specifically meaning HR's bcc.
Damage was more in reference to the way he swings, w/authority and looking to knock the cover off the ball whether that leads to a double in the gap, home run or cutting down the swing a getting your single through the hole on the right side.
It's B. Brown's: “There's a time to slug and a time to hit" philosophy that has (most of) the team taking great approaches and executing situational hitting like you described above.

Walker has a lower GB% (45.6%) than Herrera (53.3%) this year. Herrera’s HR/FB % is 45%, while Walker’s is 8% and Gorman’s is 3.2%.

Why? What's wrong with him being a DH? What was wrong with Big Papi or Edgar Martinez?
