Major League Baseball announced that Phillies reliever Jose Alvarado has been issued an 80-game suspension for a violation of the league’s Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program. And yet some still think PED's aren't being used in MLB any more.

The Phillies, among other teams. More needs, better market.

Romano has been much better lately, and you might recall him striking out the side v. the Cards.
They’re probably still hunting for an arm, but I doubt they want to cough up something major for a reliever (even though they should).

Wow! That's a big blow for them. They're already having BP issues before this if I'm not mistaken.
FYI, I effin hate Alvarado. Dude doesn't wrack up the save numbers but he's had np putting down the Cards almost every time.

Painter and Aiden Miller at the top of their prospect list will probably make it in MLB. They aren't parting with them. The rest of their farm system is pretty picked over and isn't going to yield them much in the trade market.

Bullpen issues are their jam. They traded away Seranthony Dominguez last year when they should have been adding arms.

Why help a team we just beat and possible playoff opponent? We could be a playoff team just standing pat without trading anyone and I’d rather us have the dominant closer. I know…rebuild, reset, plan to win another day, etc. I’ve seen too many trades and rebuilds only lead to more trades and rebuilds. If you have the personnel to win now, even if you didn’t realize it, better recognize and seize that opportunity or it’s gross negligence.

Every time the rules change the players simply devise new ways to evade them.
For a while.

Several teams need a closer.
Including the Cardinals - who should have extended the one they have when they had the opportunity.
As I alone correctly advised long ago.

True
Cheaters are always one step ahead with new PED's that can't be detected until one of them is caught and the good guys (re: chemist) can develop a test to detect the new PED.
The money is so great, no short supply of rogue chemist who keep coming up w/new PED's after their older one's can be detected.

This. If we fall out of contention then absolutely make trades.

seeing as the cards are a game back in their division maybe the cards need a closer

It’s time to focus on what we need. We are only a game behind the Phillies in the win column, and we just beat them head to head.
Unless we are trading veterans for veterans, it’s unlikely that playoff teams are going to be trading with each other

Who said they aren’t being used anymore? Players are still being caught using them
