Angel Di María

Post by stanw »

He will become a free agent shortly. Yes he is 36 years old but he’s still playing at a high level in Europe, having scored eight goals with 10 assists in 26 matches for Portuguese giants Benfica. City could use a player like him who can score and his leadership.
Any thoughts ?

For one he is 37 years old.

The other thing is he makes 4.5 million dollars a year.

Eight goals five assists in 25 games.

How much is that worth?

Rumors are he is in negotiations with Rosario Central in Argentina to play there.

He should have good memories of STL. He had a brilliant goal in a very, well-played game vs Bosnia at Busch Stadium.

I wouldn't be opposed to him on City, but ownership has shown no inclination to spend the money it takes to be more competitive. Also, it doesn't appear the league is willing to help City like they've helped other clubs, specifically Miami.

It doesn't make sense to blame the club for the way the league is govered.

I'm not blaming the club for the way the league is run. In fact, I have no problem with City not going after a player like Di Maria. But I do have a problem with ownership not being willing to spend more to bring in better players.
