It's always good for teams to have a few psychos who care more about winning than their own physical well-being.

Maybe miscommunication with coach Jon Jay . Jay holds up 2 fingers meaning go for the double play with lead runner if hit to you .

Contreras mistook the 2 to mean play 20 feet from home plate ! :D

Contreras wanted timeout to wear a batting helmet but too late to call it .

Jon Jay doesn't coach the infielders

Agree. By being crazy aggressive at taking the bunt away, the batter swings and they get a perfectly placed double play ball. Falls under the category of creating your own luck by doing thinks the right way.

Well that explains it, Jay meant for Walker to move in two steps but Willie misread it.

Having the old cardinals with a link to success is super helpful and sets a tone for the dugout

It is Contreras' team.
Has been for 2 years now.
That one plays is an example of why that is.

Yep! I love how much WC wants to win and hates to lose. He is the heart and soul of this team.

Zero coincidence that once he broke out from his slow start, the team followed in kind.

He was just doing what he saw Rizzo do for years in Chicago. Keith Hernandez did it all the time as well. But there were both LH, so the throw to 3B was far easier after fielding a bunt.
