Don't remember one single pundit who ever considered a 'wildcard' team coming from the NL Central. In the spring shows , it was 'well for sure ONLY the winner of the NL Central will get to postseason.

Still 117 games remaining and just past the one-quarter mark . Let's take a look

The Cardinals are in 2nd place in the division one game out of 1st place and 0.5 games behind in wildcard spot.
As of tonight , here is the loss column of teams chasing their division leader.

Padres 15 , Phillies 18 , Giants 19 with Cardinals next at 20 losses.

Might the NL Central have TWO teams make the playoffs and the 'experts ' shaking their head in disbelief ?
Surprises do happen ! :D

Of course it could happen.
NL Central being a weaker division than other two could help.

This seems like a good place to state that the Cardinals are only but 4 games behind the top seed in the league (LA).

2 games behind the top Wild Card spot

1 game behind a wild card spot and the same behind the division leader.

They are flat out a top contender in the NL at the moment.

Wild times.
