There was no appeal. The ump called it himself.

I know. However, Skip said the umpire denied the appeal because he swung, not because by rule a check swing strike cannot be appealed. They say it all the time when Contreras is looking like an idiot. They think somehow the umpire is ruling on his appeal.

From his tenure in Atlanta I learned that ignoring Skip makes you happier. Some days, muting can be bliss.

I can't defend the announcers, but Contreras was more likely arguing with the ump by saying he was wrong and pointing to say "Why didn't you let the 1B ump make the call?".

As a former catcher Contreras can't stop asking for the appeal.
