First, kudos to Jordan Walker for making a speedy running grab Monday night.

Now select from below the 'patience level' for Jordan Walker . Choose the one that best describes your feelings on him .

A. My patience has run out. He should be sent to Memphis immediately.
B. I would play him thru the end of May. If no turnaround by then, then bye bye
C. Play him thru end of July. If he hasn't looked good by then, consider trading him (if possible) or demoting him.
D. Stick with Walker for the full season. I am still optimistic about his future.

Thanks for your feedback on Jordan Walker.
Look forward to the results .

This is where I am torn. I get that high paying contracts warrant leverage on a guy's playing time when the situation arises. There are way too many times a player gets left to fail for way too long, just because of the investment. Young guys with real potential, however are left to flounder in the lower leagues for years beyond their peak years because of being blocked by those over paid has been's, with big contracts. Same thing is happening here. A kid that has not really proven his worth in the lower leagues is being given opportunity after opportunity to do something, and is just failing at it. He get's left in however because of perceived potential. The MLB team should be for the best 26 players available. Not the proving ground for perceived potential or has been players. Guys like Baker and Koperniak were tearing the ball off the cover, and had proven their worth year after year in the minors. They have been given only minor bits of playing time here and there, and because of a lack of immediate superstar results, they are buried in the system being told their now too old and too normal.

Walker needs to be back in AA where he was having some success and get a year or two of tutelage and growth under his belt. Then let's see where he is at. Koperniak is not exactly tearing it up this year like last, but he has the ability and shown it. He is a great example of let him play for a month or two and either he comes around or gets let go. Same thing for Gorman. Send him back to AAA and let Saggese or Prieto get the playing time.

I think the only real reason Walker is even still getting at bats is because there is no one at the AAA level pressing the issue. If there was some outfielder down there hitting .300 with some power this would be a different story. Walker should be grateful for that right now. I just don't agree with some one of his age and lack of a proven resume in the minors that he should be given so much playing time at the MLB level, when he is clearly failing so badly.

Between C and D.

The fact that he’s made such an improvement defensively is his saving grace right now. And with the health of the team so far and the emergence of VS2, the lineup is deep enough to withstand having him in the lineup with the regulars in there.

A. He looks completely overwhelmed. He may fix it but it’s not happening at the MLB level. Just like Jackson Holiday he needs to work on it at AAA. When/IF he dominates and I mean dominates he can earn his way back.

B.

At this point I think Gorman has a better chance of turning it around and I want him to get more ABs, and they're not really playing much on the same day.

Not on the list, and only the team is going to know this, but stick with them until he is either becoming overwhelmed mentally and this is too demoralizing for him or it's clear that whatever that it is that he needs he isn't going to be able to get at the MLB level.

But I'm guessing B is the answer.

I'm in the D crowd with Walker. I also don't think him getting 3-4 ABs per game against inferior pitching in the minors is going to right the ship. He needs a professional hitter to work with him and get his mechanics straightened out. He's been successful before, I think he can be again, but letting him try to learn on the fly is only putting him in deeper waters.

He was only successful until the league figured out he couldn't hit low and away.

People wanna blame the coaches for messing up his swing but it's really just the league adjusted and he hasn't been able to adjust back in over 2 years.

This. I know it's easy to blame the team, but it's the major leagues. If you have a weakness, they will find it and exploit it, and it's up to you to adjust. He hasn't been able to.

And I'm sure it didn't help that he got called up before he was ready either.

I agree with your not on the list answer. I'm in favor of D because I saw this season as some young players getting a chance, through thick and thin, to prove themselves over a whole season and, despite recent success, I don't think they should stray from that.

Not sure if most people realize this but he has never excelled at AAA for any kind of prolonged amount of time. Again, he was rushed here because Mo wanted a shiny, new toy to take the narrative away from his blunders.

Send him down and make him hit his way back up.
