There’s a lot more to the Reuss deal than a mustache. Apparently, Reuss thought he’d signed for a $200 million bonus and spent accordingly. Alcantara and Gallen aren't doing that great this year. The Carlton situation probably cost them chances at the playoffs in 1973, 1974, and 1981.
Alcantara and Gallen have won 100 games - 0 for the Cardinals. One won a Cy Young. The other led his team to a NL pennant.
