Strength--
1. Fight, grit of players?
2. Batting and actually putting ball in play
and getting on base.
3. Defense

Weakness--
1. Bullpen (although lately it's been good)
2. Lack of Power
3. Starting rotation.

I believe the starting rotation will be a strength of this team, once a few tweaks are made.
Up the middle defense is a plus , with the right players in position
Yes, the team shows a lot of fight on the field; good to see.

Weaknesses include the bullpen -at least 3arms need replacing
Lack of power is a concern.
I still maintain that on-field management is a weakness as well

Weakness: Jordan Walker and Nolan Gorman. Can you imaging where the team would be if they were playing decent ball?
Catching defense. Can we throw anyone out?

Strength: Improved outfield defense, especially including Walker.
Hitting from catchers. Pozo has been particularly effective. He’ll probably be the odd man out when Herrera returns and that’s a shame.

Strengths: playing at home. Finally there might be some bright young spots in the rotation, especially of management let's them pitch.

Weakness: When they get on an airplane and stay at a hotel and then go play games they look like the Bad News Bears before they brought in Kelly Leak and Tatum O'Neal. Just freaking brutal.

Strengths: Coaching hires of Brant Brown and Jon Jay
Both have been outstanding !

Weakness: Bullpen consistency

Primary weakness - the outfield has only player who is a quality starting MLB player; the corners are not remotely good enough.
That, of course, could be fixed today, but won't be.
I could do it in less than 5 minutes, as could anyone knowledgeable about the game.
Secondary weakness - the bullpen is a work in progress.
Primary strength - the infield, (Contreras, Burleson, Gorman, Donovan, Winn, N/A, Saggese) has plenty of talent to be highly competitive.
Secondary strength - the rotation is good enough and deep enough to compete as well.
Both of those strengths have enough promise that the team should continue to get better in both areas.
Biggest obstacle - players on the wrong side of their careers, or on the wrong side of a contract, or the object of an ill-advised love affair are preventing younger, better, higher ceiling options from getting playing time and must be moved as quickly as possible while needed return is still possible (these include N/A, Mootbaar, Matz, and Mikolas).
Biggest threat - ownership making poor decisions concerning payroll, front office roles, and choice of manager.

Strengths- numerous quality posters who make for good baseball chat on a daily basis.
Weaknesses- Socks & Trolls like the Sideshow Clown who take up space.

On second thought.....Sideshow and his Socks do supply comedy relief!

Weakness is ownership and FO at the moment and for the past several years. Lack of ability to peg who will take that next step vs plateau.

Lack of a Star, team speed and power. Roster has too much dead weight for a team relying on a core of decent but not great players.

I agree with this take. BDW's model and Mo's strategy have fallen far behind the best talent developing MLB teams. We have enough good but not great players to compete on many nights. We don't really have an ace, nor do we have a true cleanup hitter. RH and Leahy are holding the bullpen together, but there are not many other reliable arms to get high leverage outs. Most of our starting pitchers would look pretty good in the 3-5 slots behind a solid one-two punch at the top of the rotation. Same goes for most of our lineup, around a true thumper at 4. The 2025 Cards are a .500 ish team. They are not terrible, and not great. Fun to watch some nights, dominated other nights. Other than RH, having no true stars is the biggest shortcoming.

Strengths...

They don't make a lot of errors and are pretty good at converting batted balls into outs.

They hit quite a few doubles

They get a lot of intentional walks, but I'm not sure if that is a strength or a weakness

Weaknesses...

They hit into a lot of double plays

They don't strike out a lot of batters.

Their pitcher's k/w ratio is not very good

They allow the highest percentage of balls put in play, which is indicative of a pitch to contact staff and not exactly a weakness with a good defense.

They are below average in runs allowed per game.

Cardinals currently lead the majors with +21 Outs Above Average (before yesterday's game). The next closest team is +13.

Scott +5
Winn +4
Arenado +3
Donovan +3
Saggese +2 (in very limited PT...)
Even Walker is +1

The defense is exceptional.
