Who is our most consistent player

It seems very few players in this game period are "consistent." It depends on how you define the word. Holliday and Edmonds both consistently reached season benchmark stats. But we would be lying if we said they didn't go through pronounced slumps along the way. Perhaps watching Pujols spoiled us, because that's about the only player you could see step in on any given night and feel he had the chance to have a 3-4 game, a home run, or at least a big double.

Just the consistent part is hard to find. On this team, Donovan might be the only player who shows consistency throughout the majority of the season. I can't remember him ever being "ice cold." Nootbaar seems like he can prove himself if he shows this wasn't just a hot April. Would love to see Herrera come back and find his way to 25-27 homers this season. That would give us something to think about. I'm not talking about Pujols type players. Just players who we feel have a chance to replicate above-average numbers for 5+ seasons, and limit their slumps throughout the season. The Contreras thread got me thinking about this. Because very few players can avoid the occasional "streaky" tag.

Walker has consistently sucked. So under a certain criteria he works as an answer.

Baseball is no different than a lot of other sports regarding hot streaks and colder ones .
In pro golf , a PGA player goes out for a few weeks on tour and then cools off.
Pro bowlers the same. When your 'timing' for your swing is there, you can't do much wrong. When it is off a millisecond you struggle.

That's what I was going to say. Donovan is the clear best player on the team right now. After that, I think you gotta go with Scott. He's been constantly good all year. I've been pretty impressed with him this year, and really didn't expect that much, to be honest.

Yes. In that order. Scott looks like a veteran player this year. His defense is stellar and he doesn't look overwhelmed at the plate.

Donovan hasnt had a cold stretch this seaspn but he most certainly went ice cold for about a month after his hot start last year. He was also dealing with an injury andnkept playing sonthat might have been connected.
