Two Things

Two things I took away from the second game of the doubleheader in Cincy- 1) I want to see Gordon Graceffo pitch again. I'm not anointing him as anything, but 99 is interesting, 5 IP with no runs in that ballpark is interesting. Keep him stretched out as a starter.
2) A piggyback start like that is much better than a 6-man rotation. This might work especially well toward the end of the season if they have multiple young pitchers they want to take a look at, or some young pitchers who are bumping up against an innings limit. Use two pitchers and don't use another no matter how bad it gets. Give the bullpen a one-day breather regularly.

Good thoughts.
Kind of how I thought Matz might be used this year, at least early on, and sometimes they have, but also quite a few times I think where Matz comes in and pitches less than 2 innings.

Correct. Did not realize he threw that hard, gives hope for building a pitcher if he can learn to use that to set up his slider and change.
