Ivan Herrera position catcher DH or first base?

I think he needs to be in the lineup most days but not at catcher.
I haven’t seen anything this year to make me think that he can control the run game at all.
What I have seen is that he could be at or near the top of our current offensive players.
I think his short and long-term value is at first base and some DH.
Unfortunately those positions are really clogged.
Contreras, Gorman, Baker and Burleson are also best suited for those positions.
What do we do when Herrera is back on the 25-Man?
IMO I think one or more of them need to be traded for some young SP and RP help.
But not Herrera.

Trade or send down Baker and Burly.
Contreras plays 1B. Herrera C/DH. Gorman DH.
Regular lineup should include
Nootbaar
Herrera
Donovan
Arenado
Contreras
Gorman
Walker
Scott
Winn

I'm not ready to give up on him behind the dish. He is a plus player to have at catcher if he can be average defensively.

Who knows where Gorman, Baker or Burleson will be a year from now. I like WC at first and his unwillingness to be traded sort of solidifies him at first. ( I need to look up his contract terms not sure how long. )
I’m sort of wondering about right field. We are already teaching a guy that position that can’t hit. If this is a foolish idea don’t laugh.

Baker and Burleson are non-factors. Gorman hasn't hit enough to force his way into the 2B job yet, much less 1B. Contreras will be the 1B until his contract is done- would be surprised if he agrees to be moved. If Herrera is athletic enough, I would like to see if he could play LF. I'm sure there would be a learning curve (like Walker), but we could survive the experience. We went to a World Series with Lonnie "Skates" Smith in left, and hid Albert Pujols out there for a couple seasons to get his bat in the lineup.

Has been my lineup too once Hererra returns.
I'd just DFA Baker, send down or deal Bumbles as a throw in if/when they deal Helsley or Fedde or NADO to get a little better return.

He should DH. Shouldn’t be catching coming back from the knee problem they need his bat every day

Can't argue with moving Bumbles, the Baker, and the Walker. Be it to the minors or elsewhere. Bring up Koperniak.
