Player development positives so far this year

1. Liberatore has looked like the quality SP the Cardinals hoped he would be
2. Donovan has been even more productive
3. Scott has looked like a capable starter in CF
4. Saggese and Herrera have looked good over really small sample sizes
5. Gorman's K% is down to 26.7% and his BB% is back up to 11.1%, more in line with his better season from 2023
In a season which should be dedicated to sorting out the future core of the team, some positive trends emerging.

I would be thrilled if Scott hits 270, plays plus defense and nabs 50 stolen bags

Walker has really improved his defense. His hitting looked good at the start but has really tailed off. He has opened his stance some since the start. He is pulling off the ball. Hope Brown can straighten that out soon.

6) Jordan Walker looks like a different guy in right field
7) Pedro Pages has hit enough not to be a liability
Kyle Leahy is nasty
Longer term, I'm hoping to see more from Walker with the bat. It could certainly happen, but it is not a given.

Good to see although I wouldn't lump Donovan in w/that group, he's beyond the "development" stage and is an established everyday player.
On the negative side:
J. Walker (.198 .266 .279 .545) isn't progressing at all or is this who he really is?
M. Winn may come out of it but he's taken a step back at the plate (.231 .317 .288 .605)
A. Burleson has no power anymore, in his last 333 PA's he's got a pitiful .314 slg%/.620 OPS per Bernie
R. Fernandez is lost (11.42 ERA), needs to be demoted
JoJo is nothing more than an
obsolete LOOGY, great vs LHH'er and destroyed by RHH'ers who he faces 70% of the time
C. Roycroft has already been demoted
A. Pallante looking more like a #4 than the #3 he looked like in 2024

I think Pallante is a very good home pitcher. And not good away.
And that makes him a #4 this season
Last year, when he pitched like a high end #3 he posted a 3.88 Home ERA & a 3.67 Road ERA.
Like Winn he has plenty of time to right things, I'm not concerned about either.
The rest I listed, including Walker, I don't see having much upside.

Winn HAS come out of it. Over his last 10 games he is hitting .351 with an .851 OPS. He came back from the IL picking up right where he had left off.

Winn HAS come out of it. Over his last 10 games he is hitting .351 with an .851 OPS. He came back from the IL picking up right where he had left off.
Yea noticed that too, SSS (10 G) but like I said in another post I'm not worried at all about him (or Pallante).
