as usual Eli has added to his depth
with the TE from Iowa, the WR from Ill state and now the offensive lineman who plays multiple positions really shored up areas of weakness. MU has a lot of TE's but only one star and he has been injury prone. Now they have the experienced TE signed early and now with this addition they added guys who can step up as receivers if there is another injury. Harris and the others are more blockers.
Having a veteran WR into the room is bigtime as he can get into outside rotation where they don't have a lot of experience. Have several guys who are more slot types but needed a outside guy who can ketch contested balls.
Who knows about the lineman but guess he felt needed another body in the mix as the guy is a solid run blocker but weak on pass. hopefully Jones can coach him up to be a solid backup.
still expecting him to find a solid DT to fit in that room and a competitive DE.

Update when I went to Rock m nation had article on Early and turns out he is much more than the other report I saw. He was the Leading Olineman for Seminoles with a 79 rating on PFF. Would have placed him close third on last years' mu line behind only membou and Camron. started 7 games and would have more but for a injury. Now he could be in contention for one of the starting tackle positions and if he isn't would be guy who could backup and step right in effectively if injury or upgrade needed. Nice work Eli!
When you see a player that good you grab him whether you have big need or not.
here's a question for you. Do you want the top rated HS OLman in the class who is a legacy MU family who no matter how good will take a year or two to really be effective and who went to one of big Brands in a very expensive auction. OR a veteran Olineman ready to rock NOW with solid Power 5 experience who was his teams top rated lineman according to the Pro's who judge these things plus comes with a modest price tag? Now you have a much bigger NIL budget to pursue other Players who are already proven and fit within your assets.
Just saying.

OL who are good run blockers and ample TE's just keeps leaning in the direction Drinkwitz wants the offense to go too as to what it has mostly been.
Run the football. Limit mistakes. Balance offense. QB values the football and possessions.
Nothing new here.
Its not glamorous or what the short attention fan boys clamor for but its got double digit wins the last two seasons with a QB who wasn't 4-5 star material out of HS.
We've seen Drinkwitz can be very conservative.
With Pribula/Horn and then Zollers that may dictate something different as their development moves along but for the forseeable future that's the plan.

Re: as usual Eli has added to his depth
If Pribula is the starter, they could have an elite running game, which opens up the moderate passing game with defenders stacking the box and play action. Not saying Horn shouldn't start. If he's the best overall QB, then he should get the call.
The defense could be the best Drink has had if the Corners can hold up.

The only reason we'd get 10+ wins with that offense is if the defense is better than last year, as Drink had been implying.11WSChamps wrote: ↑23 Apr 2025 13:36 pmWe get 10-plus wins I don't care what kind of offense they run.onemizzou wrote: ↑23 Apr 2025 13:35 pmIowa's offense, just like I said.11WSChamps wrote: ↑23 Apr 2025 09:24 am OL who are good run blockers and ample TE's just keeps leaning in the direction Drinkwitz wants the offense to go too as to what it has mostly been.

A balanced offense that doesn't turn the ball over and compliments the defense. What coach wouldn't want that?onemizzou wrote: ↑23 Apr 2025 13:38 pmThe only reason we'd get 10+ wins with that offense is if the defense is better than last year, as Drink had been implying.11WSChamps wrote: ↑23 Apr 2025 13:36 pmWe get 10-plus wins I don't care what kind of offense they run.onemizzou wrote: ↑23 Apr 2025 13:35 pmIowa's offense, just like I said.11WSChamps wrote: ↑23 Apr 2025 09:24 am OL who are good run blockers and ample TE's just keeps leaning in the direction Drinkwitz wants the offense to go too as to what it has mostly been.

One that wants to be able to score points late in the game if they're down.11WSChamps wrote: ↑23 Apr 2025 13:49 pmA balanced offense that doesn't turn the ball over and compliments the defense.
