For Contreras to get his average to .250 he would need to go 28 for his next 81 ABs. That would be 160 ABs and 40 hits. He is digging a huge hole and that will be difficult for him to climb out.

I'm going to make a prediction...maybe I'll be right or maybe I'll be wrong...

But....

When Contreras snaps out of it, he will snap out of it with a vengeance! Teams will be dreading his PA's.

I sure hope that happens sooner rather than later.

FWIW, around this time in 2023, the Long Con was in full effect, as Willy was hitting .196 with a sub .500 OPS on April 15th, and by the All Star break, I'm pretty sure he and Gorman were the most productive hitters. Clearly Oli's going to keep putting him out there, so , he'll get his chances to get out of it.

Kinda the way I see it. Sometimes good players have bad Aprils.

I’m not sure anyone with any baseball knowledge, doesn’t think that Willson will eventually break out of this slump, however, why do we have to continue with him struggling in the top of the lineup? The last few games, Willson, Burleson, and Gorman have all killed any attempt to win games! Willson has never been a very good RBI man, but evidently Oli doesn’t know his history. With runners on base, pitchers aren’t going to give Gorman anything to hit, because, they don’t have to! He’ll chase anything and everything, and make no contact! Burleson will also swing at anything, however he does make contact, usually a little ground ball for an easy out. But, sure, let’s keep putting these guys in run producing spots in the order Oli, one day one of them might actually do something positive!
This team has some talent, but will never do anything as long as Oli is running things!

I’m not sure what CTers were expecting out of WC…..he’s 33 and has an extensive track record…..anyone look at his career stats?
He was a good hitting CATCHER…..when he was on the field. He’s NEVER been a top of the league offensive guy ::crazya::

A very fair assessment.

He had an .848 OPS in 2024 which was the 18th highest in MLB. Unfortunately he only had 358 PA last year. I'd say that's pretty close to top of the league.

Half a season…..2/3 season….isn’t a full season. He’s NEVER played a full season at the top of league. These rate stats can apply to a month….2 months…..very deceiving

Contreras has a career .806 ops and 115 ips+ meaning 15 % above league avg with several seasons over 120 ops+.

Hes not elite like hes gonna be in runneing for mvp but he usually should be fine as muddle of order bat or at least even if in the lower end. And its not like hes hitting anywhere close to his career numbers now. I didnt expe t a replication of last years career year but was hoping hed at least be close to .800 ops. I never expected him tl be an mvp candidate nor be an allstar at 1b even though he was one at catcher.

He has time but in a few weeks i might panic more if i dont see him starti g to turn things around
