The Dodgers and Rays got an overwhelming majority of the top votes. Here is the order of MLB front offices who received any votes. (I couldn't transfer over the bar chart that shows how much the Dodgers and Rays are out in front.) And not a single vote anywhere for the Cardinals FO. No surprise, just confirmation.

Cardinals baseball was considered baseball heaven years ago... now days there is no player in the league that would ever choose to play for the Cardinals right now over other top teams in the NL or AL.. hell, even some players would go choose to play for other teams in our own division now over the Cards because they have better managers and players and teams

I don't know. We could parse it out into what these teams on the list are good at. Some are just good at spending (Phillies, Mets) which is surely a sign of a "good" front office, one that "acts" although that doesn't necessarily reflect on skill. It doesn't require "talent evaluation" to sign Juan Soto.

Let's look at the Dodgers closer. Any other team that would have acquired Snell and Glasnow would be ridiculed for acquiring pitchers everyone knows to be injury prone. They signed Ohtani because they have a globally recognized franchise and the contract will pay for itself in merchandise before they even have to pay any of it. They acquired Betts the way they did because they were able to drink the Price money without a chaser.

Some are on the list because of player development or doing what they can within the restraints they have (Rays Brewers).

Ultimately, every franchise operates within their own unique restraints. Some have their hands tied by ownership. In lists like these, perceived "effort" seems to get you far and that's where the Cards have failed.

We can take the good with the bad. The Cardinals do have a very good pipeline of both pitching and position players. It looks like a very high floor group of players coming. What the Cardinals have developing should at least get them a mention, in a perfect world.

Why aren't the Giants mentioned? They've made an "effort." Adames, Chapman, Lee are potentially some very good outside additions longterm. You've got Patrick Bailey, Heliot Ramos taking off. Oh, and for the moment they're ahead in the standings of the vaunted Dodgers.

I guess Bloom and Cerfolio don't move the needle.

They may not be considered for current state of affairs, but certainly considered for future operations.

Idk why not. Bloom has been a part of the front office for over a year now.

They vote on leadership, and are probably influenced by the lack of moves during the off season.

I know times are down but these types of comments are simply hyperbole. Plenty of players would play here if you paid them. Sonny Gray, Wilson Contreras, and Nolan Arenado all choose to stay here instead of going to other situations. Based on the rest of baseball other than the Dodgers and Yankees we still draw better crowds than most. There are far worse places to play than here.

It’s refreshing to see that Mo’s relatives have shown up to defend him. They change the subject, explain the results to deflect blame, apologize for the city, harken back to a better time, shine a light on our successful past. Anything but own the results of this survey. Not acknowledging the problem only prolongs the time before we get better.
