Not surprised one bit. Couldn't help but giggle at those still too naive to think Oli will make the right,
smart move, especially when it comes to Long Con. There's having your favorites, and then there's Oli's manlove for Willy. Can only imagine what those two do when by themselves behind closed doors.

After much debate on CT why Contreras is hitting 3rd , the guy finally gets hold of one and smacks his first HR of the year .
If he gets another hit in the game , then the forum gets flooded with Keep Contreras in the #3 spot ! lol
OR What the H was Oli thinking batting Contreras 3rd today ? 3 more strikeuts and twice with RISP ? Drop his tail down to the bottom of the order or give him another rest day ! lol
So Oli gets the 'dumbo ' treatment or some say What a stroke of genius followed by Well, Oli got lucky for one game . Even the blind squirrel finds an acorn now and then .

1) I like Contreras and he will bounce back.
2) I get Oli being supportive of his player.
But.....While I don’t read minds I would not be surprised if Contreras wouldn’t actually welcome the move?
To me Oli isn’t doing him any favors.
Repeatedly failing in the heart of the order has to take its toll.

Well Scouty did say Contreras wouldn’t be hitting 2nd. Instead only 3rd.

Quite true ! .. and if in today's game the Cardinals get runners on 2nd & 3rd with two outs with Luken Baker (2nd coming up ) , the Phillies may intentionally walk him loading them up for Contreras . How many teams would walk a 2nd batter to get to the heart of a lineup ?
Hopefully , if that scenario plays out that Willson burns them . He needs a key hit to get the weights off his shoulders.

Yes I did. Just like I said Winn wouldn't be leadoff on opening day.
you're welcome!

It'd be great if he could hit 4 home runs and make us all look like idiots. I'd more than welcome it.

Probably just an out of this universe coincidence but ......
Goldy has been very successful hitter in his career in the 3 hole. Marmot, who knows MLB better than anyone, moved him to 2 hole and he cannot hit air when swinging. Ended 2024 .245 Avg, .302 OBP, .414 SLG, and .716 OPS. Currently, he is hitting with the Yanks while batting leadoff, 3 hole, etc Avg - .360, OBP .407, SLG .480, & OPS .887.
Contreras a pretty successful MLB hitter in his own right. MLB career stats .256 Avg, .350 OBP, .457, SLG, and .807 OPS. Currently he is .102 Avg, .170, OBP, .143 SLG, and .313 OPS while getting thrown into two hole - and he cannot hit air when he swings.
2 successful MLB hitters moved to unaccustomed positions in batting order and fail horribly. Granted Contreras has small sample size but after 12 games and 49 AB's only a unique group of people believe his current rate of success should be maintained. Common factors - Marmot & MO Ran.
