I gotta admit, I enjoyed season 3 a lot. I have watched all 3 seasons, and I know it is sometimes ridiculous soap opera campiness, I enjoy the writing and the acting.

Walton Goggins was great as usual, dude is so good in everything. Parker Posey stole the entire season IMO. Anyways, if you haven't watched it yet and you want some mindless fun, check it out.

If you have watched this season, that was pretty good.

I've only watched "The White Lotus" in short glimpses, but I have to avoid any interviews with Mike White, because just seeing that face reminds me of one of the creepiest movies ever, his "Chuck and Buck": http://thefilmexperience.net/blog/2021/ ... -2000.html

I really liked the first few episodes of Season 3, but it ended up disappointing me. Just about every streaming series slows down in the middle episodes, but this was ridiculous. If you cut out all of the scenes of Jason Isaacs nervously checking his phone, this could have been a 90 minute movie.

After all that, there was only one storyline that paid off in the end (and that required one of the sillier plot lapses in recent memory--I assume you know what I mean). All the others were left just hanging, like Mike White lost interest halfway through.

Many great performances, though. Carrie Coon and Walton Goggins are two of the best actors working today. Baby Schwarzenegger was so convincing as a slime ball, I wonder if he can do anything else. Lalisa Manobal is the prettiest person on Earth. Sam Rockwell's soliloquy about why he quit drinking might be the most awesome thing White has ever written.

And Goggins' reaction...

Dicktar - I agree with you on some of that, but I liked it overall more than you did it sounds like. Some of the middle episodes definitely had some filler, and I generally didn't care about the 3 women's storyline until towards the end, and Carrie Coon's monologue at dinner was pretty amazing. Walton Goggins can do whatever he wants, I will watch everything he is in. I agree with you 100% on Baby Schwarzenegger, he played a great spoiled "bro" but even he kinda realizes he is a jerk a little at the end, I can see them bringing him back, but as some wanna be self-help guru/motivational speaker in a future season.

And Pink - holy sh*t I had completely forgotten about Chuck & Buck. Mike White gives a pretty disturbing, what really good, performance. I also remember him from Zombieland, just trying to take a dump in peace. ha ha ha

Just started this series. I'm digging it, after a little initial trepidation. The writing is pretty first-rate, what they're doing w/ the 'power' family, esp. the dad's arc, is hilarious. those girls are a trip.

Haven't watched. Are there are any good people in it or are they all various shades of terrible? Do the poor people win at the end?

Looking hard :). ….maybe a few, mainly those on the wrong end of the power dynamic. Def. A class struggle vibe, w/ a lot of blackish humor.

That's another thing...the previous seasons had a lot to say about the upstairs/downstairs capitalist ecosystem at the hotel. S3 has one perfunctory subplot about the security guard that went nowhere, and was insular from the rest of the plots.

Without the class satire, what is this, except an expensive, low-energy soap opera about cartoonishly vile rich people?

I'll pass then, in my older age I'm increasingly disinclined to spend my precious free time on dramatized Rich People Problems.

Now stick 'em on a real life Squid Game island and I'd be all about it

In S3 now - this White fellow is hitting the gay vibe lever like a rat in a cage after a candied peanut.

Did enjoy the penniless gay noble riff-raff plot against the ridiculously entitled & infantile corpulent heiress in season two - that was wonderfully fatuous. "You got this", she said. And so she did. Uncle Rico on the lam...

Plowing thru S3 - its a bit of a slog, a lot of bleak over-hang, without much of the leavening humor.
