Reportedly still alive but trapped under the rubble.

MLB Trade Rumors reporting that he died as a result of the roof collapse in Santo Domingo, DR. Terribly sad.

Former MLB pitcher Octavio Dotel has passed away, after being rescued from the rubble at the Jet Set night club in the Dominican Republic due to the collapse of the roof.
Dotel, 51, died while being transferred to the hospital.
RIP.

Dang, RIP Octavio Dotel. He was an electric reliever.

Played for 13 teams, second most by any player. Both Cards and Rats. Longest team he ever played for was Houston, five years.

Man, this sucks. He was always one of my favorite relievers. I remember I was so (upset) when we traded Rasmus in that deal, but was psyched to get Dotel on the team.

ESPN says that the death toll is now up to 44 dead and 160 injured in the collapse. Another one of those is Nelson Cruz’s sister.
