Well, you have to have decent pitching to win. I believe we have saw the real team in the last three games, marathon or not. Also, Contreras is not a first baseman.

So why have we seen the 'real' team the last three games... Does the 'real' team only surface when a team loses and the 'winning' games reveal nothing. The Brewers lost their first four to NYY allowing 32 runs (20 & 12 ) in the two final games .Their pitching was not decent . Now the Brewers are 5-4 .. so 4-1 since then. So is the Brewer 'real' team the won that is 4-1 lately or the 0-4 to start ?

Off to a good start if trying to motivate the NTC players to
wave them.

I think the “real team” is 4-5. I’m not sure what people expected to happen after a 4-2 start against mediocre teams. The Cards are a .500ish team. Over the long haul, they will go 4-2 against the meh teams and 2-4 against the better teams. That is what .500ish teams do. This cat ain’t gonna bark.

I don't think we have saw the real team the last 3 games, anymore than we have saw the real team during the first 3 games of the season.

Let's be honest, any day you successfully cross the street is mind blowing.

This team has serious pitching problems. They basically need two top-notch starters. We knew that last season and over the winter, and nothing was done to fix it.

The team wanted to start a youth and rebuild movement, but players with no trade clauses refused to wave them for the teams who were interested in them. Without being able to trade Arenado, Gray, and Conteras, the team decided to try o compete with what they have, so they didn't trade other pieces like Helesly and Fedde.

Now the team is stuck in the middle again. Good enough to beat the Pirates, not any where near good enough to beat the Red Sox.

But that's what happens when you give out free-agent NTs.

Great post. Now we will see if they can beat the Pirates.

I won't promise a victory in this road series, but I expect the current roster, over the long haul, will win the majority of games against Pittsburg. For whatever that's worth. :(

I really have been impressed by our overall pitching performances.

Well, about a so so overall start from what most would have expected.
Offense looks good, pitching has been inconsistent.
I'm still intrigued, and think it will be interesting to see how things develop.
