In that vein, Tommy Edman has landed in the perfect spot, where Dodgers manager Dave Roberts, just a couple days ago, called him "the best utilityman I've ever had". That's pretty high praise, considering Roberts has had Max Muncy (1B-2B-3B); Chris Taylor (2B-SS-3B-OF), and Keke Hernandez (SS-3B-2B-OF) all for several seasons. They also just acquired the super-speedy/light-hitting Esteury Ruiz from the A's, https://dodgersdigest.com/2025/04/04/wh ... e-dodgers/ hoping he's not the next Eugenio Velez, another vapor trail who went hitless in 40 PAs.....though he did walk twice and take a HBP.

Kind of a no brainer really. When you have bats like Ohtani, Betts, and Judge around you. There is zero pressure to perform. Now you get to go out every day and just be kid again enjoying the game you love while trying to raise your own level. It really is about chemistry of the team. Throw in a couple guys that mash and let the rest gel around them. This is why some guys do not live up to potential then thrive within another setting.

Haven’t the cardinals scored more runs a than the dodgers?

I'm a big Edman fan, but his offense so far this year is propped up by a power surge. He's hitting just 0.256 and has a paltry 0.268 OBP. His incredible 5 HRs is where his value has been offensively. No 2Bs, no 3Bs, one SB. If he doesn't keep swatting HRs, he'll probably end up with a more typical TE season. I don't see him hitting 40+ HRs either.

Goldy is using the torpedo bat, which is similar to chocking up. He needed to do that last year, IMO. I'm also a huge Goldy fan, so I'm happy for him!

I also agree that both players are hitting in a better lineup than the Cardinals had in 2023 and 2024.
The 2025 Cardinals are a surprise, so far. I'm hoping that guys like Herrera, Walker and Scott II will continue to show they're ready to take over!

Tommy leads the Dodgers in RBI's with 9. Impressive even given the small sample size. Ohtani has 3.

One thing to keep in mind is that Dodger Stadium is easier to hit HR’s due to dimensions. An Edman ball just going over LF fence would be caught at Busch.

Likewise Yankees notorious short RF porch if just 315 feet with shirt wall.

When some Cardinals move on yo more friendly HR parks, some fans forget to factor that in .
If you get bases loaded at bat twice a year and one park your balk just goes over fence for grand slam compared to being caught at base of wall at Busch that is not only 2 more homers for the season but 8 more RBIs, 2 runs scored, and slight increase in ops.

Which is why it as wise they let Goldschmidt walk, and should have moved arenado…

Cards have scored 51 runs while Dodgers 50. Hardly a statement.

Dodgers have played Dubs, Angels, Tigers, Braves, and Phils. 4 of 5 who were predicted to be in post season. Cards have played Twins, Angels, and 1 game vs Red Sox. Dodgers @ 9-1. Pretty sure most posters would rather let Cards score 1 more run but have 9-1 record.

Fans admire players who do one thing extremely well; Ozzie Smith, McGwire, and Brock, for example, good managers appreciate the guys like Tommy, who take the extra base, can play anywhere, and contribute mightily to winning while big-name players get the credit.

Helps when you have 5 HRs. Can he keep that pace up? Highly unlikely.
