Through 6 games, they have the 3rd lowest K-rate in the league at just 18.5%. Only San Diego (15.9%) and Arizona (17.4%) are lower. They're also 5th highest in walk rate at 11.3%.
They have the 6th lowest pull percentage and 2nd highest opposite field percentage - using the whole field.
Plate discipline...
Per Sports Info Solutions, the Cardinals have the 2nd lowest chase rate (28.8%) in baseball. They also have the 2nd highest zone contact rate (88.4%).
So... they're showing great plate discipline overall with strong swing decisions and fantastic in zone contact rates - i.e. they're hitting the best pitches to hit at a high frequency.
Hope they can keep it up, early returns are extremely promising.

Exactly .. no way the Cardinals will continue the 7 runs per game pace. I pointed out a couple days ago that only 3 teams of the 30 MLB averaged 5.0+ runs per game in 2024.. D'Backs, Yankees, Dodgers all were in the 5 range with Arizona being No .1
Cards were about 4.15 per game (2th ranked ) last year. Like to see 1/2 run improvement .. a 4.5 would rank about 13th

I can see Nado, Baker, WC, and Herrera having a fun weekend with the green monster.

THIS. It sounds like (so far) our hitting coach is encouraging good fundamentals in plate approach. I like it.

By the way, the MLB batting average is only .230. It's usually lower early in the season but it's even lower than last year. The Cards' .298 looks even better.

New batting coach, new heights in batting. Correlation is not necessarily causation, and of course it is a miniscule sample size, but this is very encouraging.
