Jordan Walker- 2 strikes

So I noticed last night it felt like every PA went to 2 strike early for Walker. Unlike last year, he hasn’t been going down easily once at 2 strikes. For the season, he has had two strikes in 13 of his 17 PAs. He is hitting .546 (6 for 11) so far in two strike counts.

Impressive, or incredibly lucky. I hope a little of both.

I am no scout be he seems to be able to watch the ball deeper and hit it this year.

To go with Walkers early signs, ...
In 9 plate appearances this year, Nolan Gorman has 1 strikeout. He also has 1 walk but believe that's the intentional one last night.
Early and small sample size, but I hope the trend continues. That's an extreme improvement over a 37.6% K-rate last year. I'm glad he's getting some results for all the work.
That said. I probably jinxed him today.

With the caveat that it is very early and we have a very small sample size, I have been so impressed with Walker's approach and plate discipline. Just about every at bat has been competitive. You can see the confidence that was lacking earlier in his career. What a hulking presence at the plate he is. I don't want to get too far ahead of myself, but you can see why evaluators fell so hard for him. If he can just put it all together...

The kids appear to have changed approach under Brown. Walker is not chasing nearly as many pitches low and away. Stormin' Norman has really tightened it up as well. I hope they keep it up. Those 2 kids are a key to the season. I like that they just let JW hit the ball. I will take a hard liner for a single with RISP. The dinger was nice, but just keep hitting it hard and not worrying about homers.

Agreed. Also Arenado's approach and production with RISP is also encouraging. I don't have stats, but perception is that he is just trying to get a solid hit to advance the runners and bring them home.
