Pops froze at 3rd

I know a lot of discussion pros and cons about whether Donnie goes home on Walker fly ball.
My bigger issue is with Pops ‘no call’ on that play .
Watching replays of Donnie returning to tag up and be ready to go home, Donnie glanced over to his coach for the call
Go or no go !
Replays I watched showed Pops saying nothing to Donnie
Just staring toward Trout . Right or wrong call the 3rd base coach needs to make the call, That’s part of his job.
If he sends Donnie and he is thriwn out by 6 feet that is not on the player. Coach tells me to GO. I run like hell.
Tonight Pops failed IMO by saying nothing.
Your thoughts ?

Pop Warner is a horrible 3B coach
He has an Eerie resemblance to Max Patkin, clown prince of baseball

I thought he was being replaced as 3B coach over the winter.
He has never impressed me in any way, must be a BDW/MO loyalty thing.
A 6"6" mannequin over there. Does he have a pulse or a set of eyes that work.

Not sending him was the safe choice. Sending him would've been the aggressive play. This team needs to be aggressive. If he's out, you go to the next inning. If he's safe, you win.
If it is accurate that Pop said nothing, that's a real problem. The runner needs help in that situation.

Yep, if you're gonna try to score there, you make the decision and go without hesitation. Coach has to decide before catch is made and let the runner know.

It was about as close of a play you can get on whether to send Donny or not. You obviously send Winn, Siani, Scott there. Donny is no slouch and I was okay at the time of not sending him. Now that I have hindsight, ehhhhh.

Lol.

Regardless of that particular play I have never thought he was very good. Too conservative IMO.

Hindsight cause of the bad throw. He gets thrown out by 15 feet most nights.

Nah, you don't send him in that situation.

Exactly, it's frickin Mike Trout on a fly ball to short right field. 8 out of 10 times he's hosed by 10 feet. That was 1000% the right call.

First, Pops is f'n terrible. He's literally cost us about 5-10 runs over the past 2 seasons from mental lapses or just bonehead mistakes.
Second, sigh... I would have sent him. It probably wasn't deep enough, but this f'n team... Gawd I'm already done with them if they don't turn this thing around quickly.
Wynn and Willy Long Con... sigh... two of the biggest black holes in baseball currently, and every at bat I don't think I've seen either of them try to take the ball the other way even once. Every swing looks like they're trying to hit it to Jupiter. This team just has a track record of f'n up with RISP, so I'd push the envelope every chance you get.
Force the oppo to make a play. Gawd I hate this team already. They've literally swung the hope and excitement right out of me--actually that was gone by last season. Even when they tied it in extras, loaded the bases with 1 out, and JWalk was at the plate, I still watched with a frown, arms crossed, shaking my head, just wondering how they'd F it up this time.
That's why no one is going to pay to watch this disaster. I sure hope Willy and Wynn get their sh*t together fast, hopefully that will bring some stability to the RISP inability.
end rant

Can't wait for Oli and this entire staff (sans B. Brown) to be gone

Winn’s Oppo% is 30%, which is higher than last year. There actually are some things in his peripherals that aren’t bad.
His EV is 91.7 mph (up from 87 last year), barrel % is 10%, hard hit% is 50%. His walk% is 14%. But his K% is definitely up (38%) and LD% is down (11%).
It’s early still, hopefully he breaks through. Same with Contreras, although there is nothing good in his peripherals, except that he was killing it in ST while Winn has looked bad since the start of ST.

How could you possibly know what the third base coach and the runner were communicating while watching on TV? Isn’t the third base coach supposed to be watching Trout? I didn’t think the ball was hit deep enough to send Donovan. Given the game situation, I thought it was possible he’d be sent home. In hindsight, it’s easy to second-guess. It was a tough call either way. Personally, I was hoping to see a play at the plate but that doesn’t mean it would have been the right call

On the gang house radio show Oli said that he and Pops missed a sign to give Scott II the other night for a bunt.

Pops is bad.
Recall he had some horrific sends last season and the team decided to blame the player on one and said nothing of the one the next night.
