I just want to thank you...

Post by Lets_Clinch »

...for helping make this my favorite Blues' season ever to date. I became a fan in 1978. Obviously, most of you would think 2019 should be any fan's favorite. However, it was bittersweet for me as my Mother-In-Law was on hospice and would pass away as we were going through the big push and into the playoffs and winning the Stanley Cup. I missed the parade because I couldn't miss anymore work after the final weeks and funeral. I was so happy on the inside though. In fact, I distinctly remember waking her up out of a morphine induced slumber celebrating a goal against Winnipeg watching on her 50 inch TV in her living room while she lay there dying. 7 houses down the street was my own house with my 82 inch TV in my living room. I missed all the hanging out with friends and our children during that time standing at my wife's side along with her siblings as her Mom succumbed to the big C! I loved my Mother-In-Law a lot though.

I am more of a part-time guy here in the room, but in the pre-season I was pretty giddy with optimism about this season and was probably on here more than I have ever been. It was fun watching the saga of the offer sheets unfold, acquiring the Joseph bros., Tex, Suter. It was really exciting when we landed both players for the optimism it created toward speeding up the retool or rebuild. As I have stated I let a certain couple of posters get under my skin, and it actually turned out to be a good thing because I really took the time to concentrate and learn the game even better, learn this team better-14 mos of sobriety helps as well to retain and comprehend what you are learning. I would say that almost every move has worked out beyond any of our expectations. Unfortunately, the trolls sometimes get the best of all of us. Anyway, I have watched nearly every second of every game. I don't know that I have ever witnessed more growth in a group of athletes than I seen in this Blues team. It is remarkable where they have gotten to. I had said that anything above a serious playoff push would be gravy and mean that they had some surprises this season and boy, have they?

I guess that they could still fold, but it would be shocking as it is shocking that they have done this without a guy who should garner a few Norris votes this season. It is the most fun that you can have as a fan to watch your team be the team that no one wants to face in the postseason!

Good for you on your journey to sobriety. Quite an accomplishment!

You sound like a great fan dude. Supporting your team and to be so excited for a team in transition......and all the better just where they might transition to.

I have had a great time all year following this show myself.

95% of posters here have the right heart. We all disagree with some or get in small tiffs but with most there's generally some common ground and common respect.

The 5% left, might be even less than that, are here for other reasons than hockey but they are intentionally vocal enough to make it feel like it's a bunch more than what it is. They get off on this and confrontation/attempted put downs is pure crack to them.

It's not your problem. They have the problem.

Don't let them drive you away. Stay with the love of the team and the game!

Sorry to hear about your mother in law. End of life care is hard on everyone and I've found myself "wishing" for the death of a loved one because the alternative is worse. As for the Blues season, this turn around has made this year one of my favorites, no matter what happens in the playoffs. And you are spot on, there's been growth from an individual level and on the team level. The future is looking bright! As far as the forum goes, I for one appreciate your contributions.

Yes so sorry you lost your mother in law during that season. The board here also had a loss as Foo Fighter passed without seeing the Blues win the cup. Although I have often wondered if he had a hand in the cup win.

I forgot about that guy. I liked him. He had a cool old pic of himself with awesome pants.
