Your thoughts on Svanson ever being a useful MLB bullpen piece?
Fingers crossed on both.

Seems rare for Memphis to play ball in March? Is this kinda a new thing? Seems like the minors used to start on a 2 week delay from the end of ST?

this is the 3rd year that AAA has started the same weekend as MLB. And the other 3 full season leagues start the following weekend with a 3 game series. AAA lasts until the 3rd week of September, so the amount of games has increased. Low A lasts till the end of August, with High A and AA ending a week later...I believe. FCL moved up their schedule from June to the first of May last year, but not their amount of games, so they end their season just after the draft in July.

SJ, I've been a Graceffo fan since the 2021 draft, I went all in with him and put him in my Top 10. He delivered immediately, but never had that swing and miss pitch. AAA has floored him, he gets too deep into counts with every hitter. Never lasts beyond the 5th inning. I so want him to succeed, he has the frame and some of the tools needed to at least be a reliever, if not a starter.
I'm not a Svanson fan. His sinker gets too many flyballs. Terrific outfield defense saves him time in and time out. There's time to fix that, but he's in for a bumpy AAA road this season, and perhaps next.

are you talking about the elimination of Rookie Ball? Yeah, I'm afraid that's gone for good. Minor Leaguers get paid more, but it came at a cost. The owner got their wish, it took CoVid to happen to shut down rookie ball, and the players union didn't know what hit them when they readily agreed to a pay raise. They lost half of their minor league union with that one.

Thanks for making a Monday morning even more depressing.
Considering we got Svanson for (at the time) the corpse of DeJong, Triple AAA fodder is probably the best we could have hoped for.
Graceffo gave me hope for a Gallen ‘make up call’. Kept hearing the loss of that initial uptick in velocity was holding him back. At this point, I’ll take a John Gant like swing man.

okay...sorry. Yep, still 6 game series. Memphis is @Nashville next week. McGreevy would be the Wednesday starter, and Mathews the Thursday starter....normally.
With today's doubleheader, that puts McGreevy on 4 days rest. I'm not sure they want their pitchers going on 4 days rest this year? Maybe a BP game will happen before Wednesday to push them back 1 day.
Anyways....Wed and Thursday are the tentative days for McGreevy/Mathews. If you go to the games, have fun and give us an update
