Well, I have seen several places - ESPN, SI, e.g. - repeating the so-called goal of a "reset" year, and to let the young players play, but question why the vets such as Arenado, Gray, Fedde, et al, are still on the team. So is it a reset, or are they trying to compete?

Are you slow or just stupid? Both?

If we all are talking about how the cardinals say one thing and do another and they throw players under the bus so to speak. Do the cardinal players talk to each other about this and I wonder , if they have some teammates they can't tell cause they will tell oli or other management people just wondering.

With the exception of a very small percentage of fans, the whole world knows at this point the Cardinals have had a slow fall from one of the best ran organizations in the league to one of the most befuddling.

It’s both. They’re hoping to be competitive while they reset their payroll to a lower number. This isn’t that hard.

I am not a Mo fan, but I think Mo got jammed from every angle this offseason. First, WC and Gray said no wave the NTC. Then Nado vetoed Houston, and Bregman blocked Boston. My guess is the other GMs low-balled him on RH and Fedde. He and BDW decided to stand pat until some better offers come in or until July. Just my guess. The optics of all that contradict what was said back in the fall. So, the press write about it.

I agree it may look worse than it was. But mistake number one was announcing the intentions. Both from a leverage position as a gm and as a PR move.

Ask yourself the same question, Scouty.

I was agreeing with the OP by quoting the media that I had seen as well. Sorry to confuse you, but I don't appreciate the name calling as I'm pretty sure I have never provoked anyone on this board as you just tried to do.

Agreed. I haven’t understood nor agreed with the Cards messaging/communication (strategy or content) for some time. It’s kinda’ amateurish for a pro sports team.

I live an hour from Tampa so I get to watch Tampa do it every year. Get value from the guys they can get value for but hold the guys they can't. All of the guys you mentioned can still be traded mid-season if there is a market. Reset year does not mean "tank" those are two very different things. You are making assumptions that maybe are not true. Reset doesn't mean rid yourself of all talent.

Ah, but there is no quote. Funny though.
