That's funny stuff. But really, there are some talented players to get excited about for the future. Will they all pan out? I guess we'll find out.

I remember the good old days when Cardinals fans were excited about young players such as Joe Hague, Jose Cruz, Ted Sizemore, Ken Reitz, Mike Tyson, Bake McBride, Ted Simmons, Scipio Spinks, Jerry Reuss, Mike Torrez, Luis Melendez, Reggie Cleveland, etc.

Well, Cruz did well in Houston, and McBride won ROY but got his ring in Philadelphia. Reuss and Torrez turned into pretty good MLB pitchers, but not in St. Louis. That Simmons fellow did pretty well.

Ah...some good names. Hector Cruz really hurt as he was a minor league Superstar whom everyone thought would be a star in St. Louis. Jerry Mumphrey, Leron Lee, Jim Dwyer, Diego Segui all come to mind from that era as well.

Hernandez & Templeton were the real deal and Bob Forsch had a darn good career.

Point is...you never know with prospects and you certainly can't count on them. A few will make it, many will not!

Ah, the mostly unproven glorified list routine, while being mostly ignorant of other teams prospects and how they compare to ours.
I fall for it somewhat, and I also have some optimism for future Cards teams, including this years, but that's more with the heart and being a life long fan than to try diving deep into the analysis of how we compare with the competition, and it is spring btw.

You can always trade for relievers and an impact bat or two. But good homegrown starters are rare.

Sure would be nice to have a young cost controlled SP rotation that was also effective, but not expecting anything close to the Braves 90's trio.

23 year old Tekoha Roby may have as good of pitching stuff as any of the young starting pitchers. He just needs to be able to stay healthy. I guess Roby starts out at AA this season. Also, It will be quite interesting to see how Tink Hence does at AAA.

I don't understand sending McGreevy down or keeping Siani over Koperniak--Is the GM screwing the Cardinals because its his last year?
