Tip of the cap to Mo for NOT signing Montgomery during the 2023-24 off season. Not all of my ideas are gold.

So was Ken Kendrick smart enough to have insurance on Monty?

"I pushed for it (signing Montgomery). They agreed to it -- it wasn't in our game plan. You know when he was signed -- right at the end of spring training. And looking back, in hindsight, a horrible decision to invest that money in a guy who performed as poorly as he did. It's our biggest mistake this season from a talent standpoint. And I'm the perpetrator of that."

Arizona’s last 3 big name FA signings pitching wise

Madison Bumgarner : -0.4 bWAR 69 GS 15-32 record 5.23 ERA
Jordan Montgomery: -1.4 bWAR 21 GS 8-7 record 6.23 ERA
Eduardo Rodriguez: 0.2 bWAR 10 GS 3-4 record 5.04 ERA
Corbin Burnes : ??????

MO did far better in the Miles vs Monty debate than I.

Miles is far than ideal. A overpaid #4 or #5. He also
usually clocks in.

Hypocrite much?
You're the guy that ragged on Mo relentlessly for not signing him.
You even made up some ridiculous story about his wife moving her (mythical) dermatology practice to St Louis.

Mozeliak has had the “opportunity” to say the exact same thing to the media and fans of the Cardinals - about 10 times.

Of course he never has.

Hate it for the guy, but that might explain why he wasn't traded. Couldn't pass a physical.

First....always feel for any player going down with an injury and having to face surgery.
Second.....despite facing one year plus to return the history of pitchers coming back from TJ is very good.
Third...that being said while I covet pitching above offense it makes me really nervous at the idea of multi year FA deals for pitchers!

Nor should he. The Dbacks owner was dumb for doing that

Before today's announcement:

Diamondbacks left-hander Jordan Montgomery has been a logical trade candidate for a while but remains on the club with Opening Day just around the corner. It was reported last week that talks were still ongoing, perhaps make a late spring deal seem possible. However, Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic reports today that the Snakes have asked at least one team to take on $13MM of the lefty’s salary this year.

That was dumb of thenowner to say that. While he is taking responsibility, hes also horribly blasting his player to the media saying that this guy was a mistake and i wish i never signed him. Whether true or not, thats not the way to treat players. As true as it may have been to say about cecil or other guys, itd be completely classless.

Finally, the DumbBax are stuck with a worse contract than the MadBum deal.
