I just don't see one on this roster.

Contreras is a .258 lifetime hitter. 74 RBI is his career high in one season and his 118 hits are his career high in one season. At his age I don't expect him to have his greatest year.Futuregm2 wrote: ↑24 Mar 2025 10:29 am Willson Contreras, he’s 27th in OPS over the last 2 years. He’s our best hitter.
You hope Arenado can rebound, but I doubt it.
Herrera had an .800 OPS last year, if he can repeat that or build on it (he’s had a really nice spring), then that’s close to an impact bat.
And I think Noot’s spring gives hope that if he stays healthy he could have a breakout year. But I still think his floor is a very solid top of the order contributor, same as Donovan.
I’m not sure any of them are truly “impact”, but the depth of the lineup might be good enough for this division. There’s a lot of “ifs” and “hopes”, but they play the games for a reason. We should soon find out.
I would expect him to set career bests in RBI and hits, as well as probably HRs because he was limited in PA due to being a catcher and the injuries that can come with that position. He should be healthier and play every day as a 1B, so I would expect 600 PAs, which is 150 more than he’s averaged over the last 4 seasons. He’s improved his OPS for 5 consecutive years. Not to mention the impact of simply focusing on hitting vs trying to learn the pitchers he’s catching.OldRed wrote: ↑24 Mar 2025 10:55 amContreras is a .258 lifetime hitter. 74 RBI is his career high in one season and his 118 hits are his career high in one season. He’s probably as happy as a pig in slop.Futuregm2 wrote: ↑24 Mar 2025 10:59 amI would expect him to set career bests in RBI and hits, as well as probably HRs because he was limited in PA due to being a catcher and the injuries that can come with that position. LMAO...Oldy was 34 when he had his best year ever. You will be wrong, if he stays healthy. His OPS+ has gone up each of the 2 years he's been with the Cards.OldRed wrote: ↑24 Mar 2025 10:55 amContreras is a .258 lifetime hitter. 74 RBI is his career high in one season and his 118 hits are his career high in one season. I would argue Goldschmidt's best season was when he was 25 years old when he finished second in the MVP.scoutyjones2 wrote: ↑24 Mar 2025 11:07 amLMAO...Oldy was 34 when he had his best year ever.
