Will Sacramento A's and Tampa Bay Rays Have MLB's Priciest Tickets?

It's not so much value, but simple scarcity, with the Rays playing at Steinbrenner Field in Tampa instead of St. Pete's cavernous Trop, and with the A's playing in Sutter Health Park in West Sacramento. I looked up tickets for two high-demand games, with the Dodgers visiting Tampa and Yankees visiting the A's...and the cheapest ticket for either game was $142, and both of those game price ranges were beyond the outfield walls. At least you won't be in the nosebleeds and need a Sherpa guide.

West Sacramento's Sutter Health Park: 10,624 (Fixed seats); 14,014 (Total, including fixed seats, lawn and standing room);
Steinbrenner Field: 11,026 fixed seats (Noo Yawk snowbirds in FL alone will fill those).

MLB has already stated that there is no guarantee that the A's would pay postseason games in Sacramento. I imagine the same would apply to the Rays at Steinbrenner.

BTW, I paid $184 for 2 tickets to see the Guardians and A's on a Sunday in June.

BTW, I paid $184 for 2 tickets to see the Guardians and A's on a Sunday in June.

The Athletics and their old stadium owners could not come to an agreement to so the Athletics could just use the old stadium for 3 more years?

IMHO, the Athletics, Rays, and Marlins should all be relocated to better cities (the list of better cities would not include Las Vegas).

These cities are averaging 20K per game of paid attendance in their best year of the past 10 years. I doubt Las Vegas does much better.

That kind of warning from MLB is what got the Cubs to finally put up lights at Wrigley, which they had ready in the early 1940s, but shipped them overseas to help our WWII troops. In 1988 the Commissioner's Office told the Cubs that with Wrigley hosting exclusively day games, any postseason "home" games would be played in St. Louis so they could be under the lights in prime time.

Amazing how fast those lights suddenly got put up at Wrigley. And then their much-ballyhooed nighttime opener was rained out after two innings, and after the first night game's very first batter, the Phillies' Phil Bradley, homered, followed by Ryne Sandberg's first-inning dinger for the Cubs.

It's going to be interesting to see how many rain delays affect Rays home games in Tampa. Starting in June they back up many of their evening start times to 7:35 because, based upon our many RV trips to Florida to stay with friends, you don't need a watch. When you first hear thunder you know it's 2pm....every danged day from June through October. And people planning on going to a game that night might change their plans once they see rain in the afternoon....unless they've lived there long enough to realize the evening will be clear and very warm, even if oppressively humid.

Or maybe a 2nd suburban team for ATL or HOU?
