Lots of switches need to get flipped.

Winn, Gorman, Donovan, Arenado, Walker, Gray, Pallante, King

There's no switch for Winn, he's just going to have to battle thru it.

As Winn freely admitted in recent articles, He came into camp with idea on working on pulling the ball to get more HR's .
That is not what Brown was anticipating as Brownie was very pleased with Winn going to the opposite field in 2024 where his batting average soared.
If he could flip the switch quickly , he would have done it this past week. Seems obvious , he developed some bad habit(s) at the plate.
Hoping that Brown can get him back on track but it's going to be up to Winn to battle out of this . A coach does not hold and swing the bat for you.

Got homer happy and yet no one in organization has confronted him to correct

Players and coaching failure in progress

Winn changing his swing to hit more homers, may not be what Brown wants, but it’s what has been taught before he got here. Every young Cardinal hitter has been pressured to hit more homers. It’s messed up Gorman, Walker, Burleson, Donovan, Nootbaar, and sure others as well. Herrera is the only one who seems to remain who he’s always been. He’ll turn on a pitch, but he’ll also go the other way if he’s pitched there. If all the Cardinals had the same approach, they’d be a totally different hitting team.

How can you possibly know that?

Observation he started jacking balls late last year and got in a mechanical funk

His swing was fine until the long balls came

Watch the videos between 2024 and 2025

He is pull happy, off balance and is making weak contact

Why can’t the coaches get thru to him or do they even try?

Hate to see a great talent go into a funk - there is no accountability in this organization

Winn can have a bad offensive year and still be the least of teams problems. Without offensive production from NA, WC, Gorman, Walker, Noot team will have issues. Winns bat was never going to carry this team.

True. But if he has a horrible year offensively and Westherholt has a good year and advances quickly to aaa, Winn might need to be looking behind his back. Especially if Gorman comes around. Or Saggese has a big year in aaa. Or if Scott arrives and we're looking for at bats for Donovan. I'm a fan of Winn. I think he will come around. But if he doesn't, he's not like the big contracts we play regardless of their performance. And we don't need to trade or sign a guy in free agency to replace him. If Westherholt is ready and Winn isn't performing, he's on shaky ground.

You realize players have to accept and take the messaging from coaches?

Yes, that is true. One would also hope that playing time is earned and not awarded. Starting jobs should be competed for, not anointed.

age, prior MLB success are also factors, as well as proficiency at needed position

You should realize the player is accountable to improve, but the tail wags dog in the organization

Winn is a brilliant talent but needs a come to Jesus meeting
