Somehow, they counted it as 3 innings. But come on 80 pitches? Only a few over 90 MPH.

Yea started season three n back fields. Now can’t finish innings. Well, if he’s gonna stink this is the year for it.

They owe bottom level $65mill over 2 seasons plus buy-out, top level $90mill over 3 seasons. Shut him down and hope he gets it together the following season and if not buy him out and move on.

I have not seen Gray pitch this Spring.
Have just seen his stats which obviously are bad.
Hopefully just off in his “command” and he will work through it?
I get why some are concerned about a possible injury but I find it hard to believe that they would force him to pitch through it if there was ANY sign he was hurt???

Gray has been insistent in interviews, his Spring Training is all business for him. Throw X amount of a certain pitch, then move to another type of pitch, then another. Hit your pitch count limit and call it a day. He said that he'll do no pitch location nor individual pitch strategy vs. a batter until the Regular Season.

I don't know what to make of this strategy. It seems to work for him...I guess?

As for the injury part, that crossed my mind as well. I really don't know.

All I know is, like Sikes alluded to with his backfield games for 2 weeks, his regiment has been off the beaten path the two seasons he's been here.

His career ERA in ST is just over 5, so there may be something behind that.

Another brilliant move by Mo. The hits keep on coming. Has Bloom been muzzled until Mo departs?

Gray has developed his own way of preparation over numerous MLB seasons that work for his body, pitching motion, etc.
From articles I have read, he is very paricular and specific as to his routine and what works for him. Younger guys (like Quinn Matthews) have stated they have picked up a lot of positive things from Gray. He enjoys mentoring and giving tips to younger guys who pick his brain. If they don't ask him, that's fine too. He doesn't force himself as a teacher to others. .. the type to help if asked .
I do know the guy is a highly competitive type athlete and sure was a heck of a HS quarterback at Smyrna, Tn. leading his team to state championship.
Athletic while being very heady on the field ... that is a coach's dream !

Yeah. He asks out of games early when he is tired. No way he would pitch if he thought he was injured.

Agree
I try not to overreact to ST numbers and he obviously has his own system to prepare for the start of the season.
As long as he’s good to go opening day that’s all that matters to me.

He's fine.
Knows exactly what he is doing.
Nothing to see here.

I also think he's fine, just with an unorthodox ST routine.
