Saggese, Koperniak, and Helman optioned
Looks like the bench is Barrero, Baker, and the other Scott or Siani

I guess we probably all knew that was coming.
I'd rather have Koperniak than Siani

Man, too bad for Koperniak. I know he's yet another lefty, but the guy has to get a chance at some point.
Re: Saggese, Koperniak, and Helman optioned
Did anyone break the Saggese news to Cranny??

Re: Saggese, Koperniak, and Helman optioned
They like Barrero for the bench role.
If/when 1 of the 3 starters goes on the IL, Koperniak will be up and playing.

Re: Saggese, Koperniak, and Helman optioned
I am kinda surprised. I had mentioned this a few days ago in another thread that the last spot was between Baker and Koperniak. Baker is a RH bat so I guess that gave him an advantage but he is limited in how he can help. I really thought Koperniak gave the Cardinals more flexibility and even though he’s a LH bat his flexibility would be the deciding factor.
Oli kind of alluded to the Barrero situation. They obviously want Saggese to get every day ABs plus they must think that Barrero is a better SS option than Saggese. This is the way I see it anyway. I will say, I am concerned about Winn. I hope he can find his way.
The head scratcher is how there is any debate between Siani and Scott. If this was a competition, Scott is winning that competition. We do have another week but outside of an injury Scott needs to be in CF as much as possible.

Siani should not even be considered. But this is the Cardinal Way. You win a job but you do not win it. They assign these positions and a better may does not stand a chance. I am waiting to see who gets traded so a clear pathway can be guaranteed for Siani. Did not this is what happened to Sosa and DeJong. They would never give the Job to Sosa but rather saved that job for PDJ and as soon as he got A hit, the job was given to him. Why work in spring training when you know that you stand no chance.

The Cardinals way? All teams make decisions that may not work out.LCA1951 wrote: ↑16 Mar 2025 17:24 pmSiani should not even be considered. But this is the Cardinal Way. Glad Barrero and Baker made it, Scott should be starting. I would have put Koper in for Siani.vegascardsfan5890 wrote: ↑16 Mar 2025 16:26 pm Looks like the bench is Barrero, Baker, and the other Scott or Siani

I like Koperniak. Hope he gets a shot with us before they move him.
I like Saggese also but probably better to get the AB’s to start the season rather than riding the bench.

Guru, you thought Burleson would be optioned. You are really slipping as a GURU. lolcraviduce wrote: ↑16 Mar 2025 16:32 pmbe ready, Matt...they'll need you before longvegascardsfan5890 wrote: ↑16 Mar 2025 16:26 pm Looks like the bench is Barrero, Baker, and the other Scott or Siani

Oli adores your hero so we will likely be stuck with another 600 PAs of mediocrity. At least you will be incredibly satisfied.Shady wrote: ↑16 Mar 2025 17:47 pmGuru, you thought Burleson would be optioned.
