TraveledLessRoad wrote: 27 Jun 2025 11:24 am Duce- I asked this earlier in the thread and didn’t get a reply from anyone, but is there any world where we’d take a swing at Jace Laviolette at #5? It’s a reach, but no one can deny that he has potentially the most lethal power bat in the draft. Since there really isn’t anyone we’re in love with at #5, why not go with highest-upside player

I ask this..."In a draft that is so many levels below last seasons draft in regards to top tier talent, why on earth do we want to draft a guy @ #5 who would probably go 2nd round in 2024?"

Seriously...why would we want to do that?

I've exhausted too much time on Jace...in this very thread with Shady the Troll...who then after 3 months of squawking "LaViolette" over and over again after everyone of my posts, decided to jump on my Seth Hernandez wagon, using some of my points about Hernandez.

I wish Jace the best of luck...where ever he's picked....I hope not #5.

----

edit ~ does he deserve to go 2nd round? Probably not, but players were falling out of the 1st round last year for much less.
Guru's insecurity has "reared it's ugly head" again. There is no reason for you mentioning me in this post. And you never knew any more about Hernandez than I did. The same with Roby. Get over yourself.
He's proven his knowledge over time, you've proven to be a pain in the rear no matter what name you use
He was wrong big time on Burleson. I wasn't. And he knows it. He often gets defensive when I discuss baseball. Why would he do that?
Craviduce is a respected poster who adds tremendous value to the board. You alienate most people with your back and forth with your sock handles and drooling obsessiveness over Burleson, Saggese, and Roby. It's that simple.

But in your delusions you are the only rational one and the problem is with everyone else. If you tried discussing baseball respectfully you would find people treating you with respect in return. But these words will go in one ear and out the other and you will resume being a royal PIA.
You are one bright light bulb, for sure. I can't ever recall you being civil in responding to me. And your sock fantasies are mind boggling. Especially, the racial sock accusation. You need to clean up your act before casting any stones.
Liar
You are confused.

I agree. By the way, my top three realistic possibilities for the Cardinals at #5 are Arnold, Hernandez and Willits.

Not sure Arnold gets past Seattle at 3.

I’m really starting to jump on the Irish train. The guy is probably the best bat in the draft, has a cannon of an arm, and a great teammate. Give me Irish with the #5 pick, then go get a stud high school kid with our second rounder. It’s pretty much Irish, willetts or bust for me. I can’t handle another left handed college pitcher pick after the last two we’ve drafted.

Ike Irish 2025 highlights.
Gotta admit the kid looks like he has that natural big, country swing. That is the type of hitter I would be looking for. he has the look and feel of a confident player. Could definitely do a lot worse.

Question: I know Cards pick 5th in the first round of draft, but do they keep that spot in subsequent rounds or fall back into their “earned” slot?

Duce-

This is kind of a strange and hypothetical question, but if Nick Kurtz and JJ Wetherholt were both available at 7 last year (I know Kurtz was taken 4th), do you think the Cards would have taken Kurtz over JJ?

Regardless of which you prefer, if they were both in this year's draft they probably go 1,2

Look for college hitters stats to gauge Cards interest. Irish for instance lost pop hitting only 2 HRs there in 62 ABs last summer.
