I remember when Brad first got the job, it seemed like everyone on here thought he had the voice of an angel. lol I guess every honey moon comes to an end eventually. lol
I’m not as old as some of the old timers here (Mid 40’s) but I’ve always liked all the commentators. Miss Danny Mac, Jimmy Edmonds. Some people here must be easily agitated. Brad is high IQ and extremely quick witted it. A lot of High IQ guys like to joke around a lot. I guess that’s not everyone’s type. Chip is awesome, So are the twins! What a great family legacy.
Mike Shannon was the one I struggled with the most because he mumbled and would often be hard to understand as he got older but I liked him too.

Growing up, Rodney Dangerfield was beloved. Was he always split your sides funny. No, but he had a certain charm about him. Shannon was not a HOF broadcaster, but he was very competent. Shannon had a similar charm about him. Like an uncle whose stories you like hearing and who is a comfortable voice. Brad T seems like more of a distraction than an enrichment to the broadcast.

Mo always wanted to be the big dog. But, he didn't want to put in the long hours. So, he was happy to offload busywork to Girsch.

Cleary this will be an unpopular post on this thread, but I feel compelled to speak up. I have been listening to and watching Cardinals broadcasts since the early 1970's. I am a very loyal and interested fan (some would say too loyal and interested). I thoroughly enjoy Brad Thompson, and I would really miss him if he left. It's a very subjective thing, and I'm surprised I'm in such a minority.

What parts do you enjoy the most? His movie critiques, his family Barbeque stories, Legos stories, color of Chip’s socks stories? That list can go on and on. I think the people that don’t like him such as myself is because he talks about everything except what’s going on in the game. I don’t care what he had for dinner. I don’t care what movie he went to last week. But, to each their own, I miss Mike Shannon.

And nobody cares about you, (donkey)(pit). Good grief. The poster expressed an opinion. And true to form, you have to be a jerk. Go eat a (bleep) sandwich.

No. My issue with that individual started when he responded to one of my posts with a rude response. When I saw him repeat it with another poster, I responded.

The difference is I knew the he was being a jerk because I had observed his prior responses to myself and others.

In recent years, Rick Ankiel has been the best color guy we’ve had, albeit occasionally. It would have been awesome for him to have stuck around full time. I think there was some reason he didn’t do more games at the time, and I don’t remember why he left.

Waino would be cool too, but he is already too big time.

With respect to FloridaFan, I think you nailed this one. I miss Shannon too but better color guys than Thompson have to be available.

Is there any chance Chips’s son or Sweeney or Dani or Claiborne could replace him for 2027? Maybe Chip by himself like Vin Scully?

Seems like whoever his boss is has to know Thompson is terrible. Anytime he takes a day off the broadcast is instantly better.

He is perfect to help with the Fredbird crew and Chip seems to keep suggesting that he could join them. Thompson seems like he is up for it. Perfect match

Try listening to Ricky Horton on the radio. Thinks he’s getting paid by the word. Literally never stops talking.

My wife and I listened to the game today on Sirius while driving back from vacation. I would rather listen to Thompson than Horton. IMO he’s the worst.

He’s annoying for sure. After an inning or two I actually just hit the mute button. Why does he comment after every pitch? If they kept track, he no doubt has more mic time than Chip.
