The Noot fascination amuses me that it still exists after all these years of mediocre performance. Glove ain't good enough for CF, bat ain't good enough for corner OF. He should have zero future here on a team that is still too LH. I hope they let him play enough just to build trade value. And admittedly, he's better than Saggese or some of the other nobodies they've run out there in LF. For now.
Indeed.
Gifted a job he never earned.
Proclaimed a core player by Super Slo Mo purely for marketing purposes.
Lars The Human Sushi-baar - always leaving an empty feeling.
Not very bright and terrible at fundamentals.
Good at drawing walks and then standing around while others do the real work.
The day he is back in the line-up, the team is worse.
The day he gets traded, the team is better.
Took less than an inning for Mootbaar to prove my point.

Certainly not the same game any of the rest of us are watching. He's literally wrong about every single thing.
Well...ME-ville has admitted that he is wrong roughly 3% of the time.
Seems to be some conflicting data?

ramfandan wrote: 06 Jun 2026 09:10 am A lot of discussion regarding Nootbaar and his long term role with the team and questioning if he should be starting over other IF ‘s.

IMO it’s obvious why Bloom would have Oli play Noot a ton in the next two months prior to the Aug. 3rd trade deadline.
If Noot plays well til then he enhances his trade value.
They want to see that his heels procedure was successful.
In Noot, ESPN Jeff Passan cited the Cardinals have one of the best trade pieces available. He is 28 years old (prime of career) and had another year if control as not a FA til end of 2028 season.

So Bloom is hoping Noot has 2 months of good play plus good health hopefully .
Due to his age, year of control, and lefty bat Noot may have multiple suitors. If so, Bloom could get a nice return .
So expect Bloom to have Oli play him a lot these remaining 7 1/2 weeks plus. If it goes well, then adios by Aug. 3rd final hours, if not a bit prior.
Noot has one more year of control, not 2. He is a FA after 2027 at which point he will have completed 6 years of service.

Otherwise I agree, play him and trade at deadline.
Or play him and trade him next year when there’s somebody ready to take his place.

Those numbers seem more accurate.
I definitely think that he and a few others would benefit from the daily use of Fleet Products which are readily available at any drugstore.

Maybe I'm stupid, but I actually like Noot! He's got a little pop, runs the bases well, plays solid D and has a decent OBP. Works for me.....but then again.....who the heck am I?
I think it comes down to whether you want to focus on what Nootbaar, at his best, might be, or what he probably isn't.

At the best we have seen, he's a good all-around OF. Gets on base well, hits for some power (15-20 HRs a year), plays a pretty average CF (-2 DRS in 852 IP), etc. As noted before, for 2022-2024, he was a solidly above average player based on his 3.5 fWAR per 600 PA. There should be a place for a guy like that on almost every team.

Is he going to be a 30+ HR corner OF if he plays everyday? Probably not.
Is he going to be a GG defensive OF in CF (or LF)? Probably not.
The team should be always looking at ways to improve and if that
is moving LN then so be it.

Someone will have to explain where an outfield with 2 LHB and 2 RHB
would be a bad thing when Baez makes the jump.
LN, NC and JW, JB could be rather good.

I'm not a big Noot fan, but he's a big upgrade over who they were running out there in LF. Hopefully, when Church returns, Scott is history as well.

lol yep so good this has aged very well
Indeed it has.
I apologize for the delay in my response as I was out of town over the weekend - but I know how important my posts are to you and others.
On Friday, Moot scored one and drove one in - while his defensive and baserunning mistakes in the 1st inning cost STL at least 2 runs and quite possibly more.
Net negative.
It appears on Saturday he had a PH HR.
Very nice.
Net positive.
It appears that yesterday he was a complete non-factor.
Net neutral.
3 games - hurt the team in one, helped in another, not relevant in the third.
Improve the team?
Nope.
But, in fairness to him (as I always am), small sample size.
I don't make the same mistake as others who are prone to in leaping to conclusions too quickly.
Rarely works out well for them.
Let's see what happens.

Nootbaar seems like a good fit for this team's high level chemistry. Just hope he can maintain some consistency and stay off the injury list.

Took less than an inning for Mootbaar to prove my point.
As certain as sunrise
Amazing how good I am at this stuff.
lol yep so good this has aged very well
Indeed it has.
I like my odds.
The day he gets traded, the team is better.
Was ANXIOUSLY awaiting your response on Nootbaar.
And you didn’t disappoint!
Comedy Central!
Impressive. He's really doubling down on stupid :D
Hes already providing more than the unicorn. He also ignored he walked twice yesterday getting on base is a good thing
In 10 AB's, Noot has provided a .300 AVG; .462 OBP; and 1.162 OPS, but the resident idiot tells us he's a net neutral over the 3 games. You can only laugh :D
