Re: Bloom will listen to interest for Donovan and Noot
Bloom doesn’t need to trade everyone this off season. I think Arenado and Nootbar will be traded, but Goreman and Donovan are likely to stay. They can be dealt mid season or next off season when more minor leaguers are ready to play. Dewitt said they were not going to tear the team down to the studs. I think you still see a competitive team in 26, but definitely trending younger and not signing any high end talent. I think they sign a FA starter like Quintana, a bullpen arm like Maton, and get prospects for Arenado, Noot, and either Pages or Crooks.

More sustained mediocrity I hope not. Another season of Gorman is a horrible idea he can’t hit and can’t fieldJackClark wrote: ↑08 Oct 2025 21:55 pm Bloom doesn’t need to trade everyone this off season. Donovan is going to make a lot more after arbitration than a younger player. DeWitt is going super cheap in 2026.
Donovan sets a great example for the younger players.
I didn’t miss anyone’s point. I simply like having guys like Donovan around. He leaves it all on the field.
He's productive.
119 OPS this season 117 for his career. To me he projects well.
I fully understand either approach with BD although I think it is an either or
thing and should be done this off season.
Any BD trade this offseason will be obviously advantageous for STL.
If he is moved, he is a player that I would be wanting to add a + to.
Get the return that is being targeted especially since he is not a player that
is being dumped for ant negative reasons.
Add a catch or a prospect pitcher or whatever sweetener needed. Upgrade his value
don't downgrade his value.
Re: Bloom will listen to interest for Donovan and Noot
One thing to remember .. while you are correct that midseason next year more minor leaguers could be ready to play but also realize that trading Donovan at 2026 trade deadline gets you less return than this December.JackClark wrote: ↑08 Oct 2025 21:55 pm Bloom doesn’t need to trade everyone this off season. Why ? Say you are another team wanting Donovan this winter. A deal means you have Donnie for 2 full years. If Cards keep Donnie and then contact yu next trade deadline, you are going to offer much less for him as now you only have him for the final two months in 2026 and all of 2027. 1 yr 2 months instead of 2 full years. THus, a lower return for Donovan in the trade.
Re: Bloom will listen to interest for Donovan and Noot
Donovan is a station-to-station player with a little below MLB average X/H%. Improved but not there yet.Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑08 Oct 2025 21:04 pmProspects. Reports say There is a lot of interest in him I’m not saying give him away but people saying a guy who doesn’t score a lot of runs or drive in a lot of runs doesn’t have much power or speed is a must keep player who should be extended is bizarreGoldfan wrote: ↑08 Oct 2025 20:29 pmSo what do you expect to get for a player like that?Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑08 Oct 2025 20:21 pm Donovan has played 4 seasons he’s never scored more than 65 runs never he’s driven in more than 50 runs just once he doesn’t have much speed doesn’t have much power and people act like the cardinals can’t do without him. He's desirable to a team wanting a solid piece to lengthen a lineup or needs an upgrade
at 2B or LF, unless the Phils want him for 3B.
He gets miscast in St. Louis partially due to the overall lack of XBH on the team. The qualities that other
teams see in him are here. I absolutely don't think that he has to be moved or kept. More just that this is
the offseason to choose a lane with him. I'd add to him in order to get more in return if needed.

It's can be a little less of an absolute. A team that wasn't in the market canramfandan wrote: ↑08 Oct 2025 22:40 pmOne thing to remember .. while you are correct that midseason next year more minor leaguers could be ready to play but also realize that trading Donovan at 2026 trade deadline gets you less return than this December.JackClark wrote: ↑08 Oct 2025 21:55 pm Bloom doesn’t need to trade everyone this off season. see a player get injured or underperform. Thus saving 2026 and still there for 2027
at minimal dollars.

I feel people will be surprised and disappointed at the potential return either would bring.

No no no no no
First he isn’t signing for that.
Second, what is it about a rebuild that BFIB don’t understand?
BD in year 4 will likely start to decline and the Cards will maybe just be getting good.
Trade this guy now ffs

Re: Bloom will listen to interest for Donovan and Noot
You would think with those numbers he would be great and drive in runs and score runs but he doesn’t because he isn’t fast and doesn’t have much power. If he had that hit tool with Gormans power or Scott’s speed yea absolutely keep him extend him. But he’s not a guy with the cardinals limited budget they should be investing in because he’s not a player you build around. Very little power not much speed. Trade himCranny wrote: ↑08 Oct 2025 21:59 pmDonovan in 2025 -Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑08 Oct 2025 20:21 pm Donovan has played 4 seasons he’s never scored more than 65 runs never he’s driven in more than 50 runs just once he doesn’t have much speed doesn’t have much power and people act like the cardinals can’t do without him. Many studs are measured at times by their ability to carry a team for small durations. We are limited.

Gotta keep someone. Winn fields a very critical position, and hits enough. The better hitting SS aren’t coming here. Either contract or FA.scoutyjones2 wrote: ↑09 Oct 2025 07:26 amI say all are for sale but many here will ask, Why do you hate Winn?
I’d build around Winn, JJ, Libby, McG and Scott. I like derfense.

He’s the consummate versatile player. Can play a number of position. That, and leadership, is why you keep him.

Donovan’s trade value will never be higher than right now.JackClark wrote: ↑08 Oct 2025 21:55 pm Bloom doesn’t need to trade everyone this off season. Personally I would trade Gorman and Donovan and keep Arenado. I don’t really see the point of paying a ton of money to get rid of Arenado when he could provide as much offense as Donovan along with deluxe defense.
Donovan brings back prospects.
Arenado would be a salary dump.
Gorman just needs to go away. He sucks offensively and defensively.
