Sunny is 100% on the roster and very well should be. Texier doesnt play the same position as Sunny (Center) and Sunny is worlds better in his own end vs either Texier or Joseph. Sunny is a defensive forward who will PK, be out in critical moments 5 v 6 and adds a big physical element. I see Sunny as the 4th center and perhaps in a platoon roleBluesfan1978 wrote: ↑25 Sep 2025 06:55 am Does Sunny make the team no matter what? Obviously if no one pushes the team to have to make any tough decisions he does. But if there’s a roster spot needed is it possible Sunny gets pushed out? I listened to how Suter’s play is described, sounds pretty similar to Sunny but with more offensive upside and you have Walker as that heart and soul type player that Sunny is known for. Joesph and Texier both add a speed element that Sunny can’t and Texier has much more skill.

Texier and joseph just need to go. Rather have dvo or carbon play third line right wingHarry S Deals wrote: ↑25 Sep 2025 13:49 pmSunny is 100% on the roster and very well should be. Yep as of yesterday ish it appeared the Blues will keep two out of Joseph, Carbonneau/Texier we will see. No matter what my guess after this season there wont be forward spots for guys like Texier anymore. I dont mind Joseph too much but i think me may be a 4th liner and we already have Torop and Walker in those spotsNublues69 wrote: ↑25 Sep 2025 13:56 pmTexier and joseph just need to go. If Snuggerud struggles and needs to be moved down the line up, which of the 3RW candidates would you want to see playing with Buch-Thomas or Holloway-Suter?
Re: Group A and Group B lines at camp today
Neighbours has played on the top line, and I expect him to get some time on that line occasionally regardless.
And Kyrou could fit in, even though in the past he doesn't quite have the chemistry with Thomas and Buchnevich. But he can still plop in there easily.

Buch actually prefers RW so he’d just move to RW with most likely Neighbours at LW. That was our 1st line most of last season after all.

Sunny is as smart and as cool as they get on the ice. Couple that with a nasty attitude and a bag of dirty tricks and he is gonna be great as a 4C or a 3RW.STL fan in MN wrote: ↑25 Sep 2025 11:34 amI’d be very surprised if Sunny doesn’t make the team. 1. a lot of Blues fans don’t value Sunny much.
2. Monty, Army and many other of the Blues’ brass value Sunny quite a bit.
The way Monty and Army talk about Sunny tells me they value him quite a bit. He’s slow and doesn’t have much offensive pop but he’s very good defensively, positionally etc. and has fantastic hockey sense. My sense is that many fans simply don’t fully appreciate what all Sunny brings to the table because a lot of what he’s good at is very subtle and not remotely close to the stuff that would ever be deemed “exciting”. But they’re things that lead to winning hockey for sure. And because of that, I can see why he’s still pretty highly valued in the org.
I expect him to play 4C or 3RW most nights. Some healthy scratches here and there at worst as we have more depth this year and the guys will be pushing each other for playing time. But I’d be surprised if he’s put on waivers or anything.
This might be his last year here as his contract will expire this summer and I could possibly see him being seen as expendable but for now, I definitely still see a role for him here.
He, like Buch, and to a lesser degree Schenn, played out of position the past few seasons.
Let’s put him in a place where he can excel, and watch him make us proud.

There’s a speed requirement for the 3rd line now?Nublues69 wrote: ↑25 Sep 2025 16:09 pmsunny has no buisness on the 3rd line he is to slow.Harry York 37 wrote: ↑25 Sep 2025 15:38 pmSunny is as smart and as cool as they get on the ice. My preference would be Bjugstad at 3RW and Sunny at 4C but we’ll see how it shakes out. Agree with Harry that Sunny was a little miscast as a 3C last season and a little lesser role, 3RW or 4C, should be good for him.
Re: Group A and Group B lines at camp today
you have neighbors suter and dvo or carbon. They may not be super speedy but they are faster and more talented then sunny. Sunny since his hips is super slow and he isnt very skilled. He is a grinder he should be on the 4th.STL fan in MN wrote: ↑25 Sep 2025 16:26 pmThere’s a speed requirement for the 3rd line now?Nublues69 wrote: ↑25 Sep 2025 16:09 pmsunny has no buisness on the 3rd line he is to slow.Harry York 37 wrote: ↑25 Sep 2025 15:38 pmSunny is as smart and as cool as they get on the ice. Re: Group A and Group B lines at camp today
Well, Neighbours and Suter are likely to be the LW and C for the 3rd line. Dvorsky and Carbo have had good camps but I still doubt they make the team. That leaves Bjugstad, Sunny, Joseph, Texier and Lucic as options to grab the last top-9 winger spot. I put them in the order of how likely I see them of winning that spot.Nublues69 wrote: ↑25 Sep 2025 16:30 pmyou have neighbors suter and dvo or carbon. As I said, I’d prefer Bjugstad as the 3RW and Sunny as the 4C but I could see them switched as well. Need to see more of both in both spots to see which configuration helps the team more.
Re: Group A and Group B lines at camp today
None of Sunny, Texier, or Joseph should be 3rd line wing on a playoff team. They are all 4th liners. If Bjugstad can get back to the 20 goal man he was just 2 seasons ago, he has my vote for the best 3 wing option. If you want him at 4c, I would rather they give a young guy like Dvo or Stenberg a chance at 3 wing over any of Tex, Joseph or Sunny.
